    Great tool, BDM needs help

    Overall Comment

    Nlyte has been wonderful to work with. Their support staff is always supportive and responsive. Implementation has been smooth and we if run into bugs, their support staff is there to help find a solution. My only issue is with the limitation of BDM. BDM is used in excel, it would be nice to but able to use sort and filters in order to be able to do a true BULK data manuniulations/updates.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Nlyte is new. There are still some limitations, but they are improving as we speak. CMDB integration is tricky, it's nice to have support from nlyte.

    What do you like most about the product or service?

    Support staff

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    BDM and it's limitations. Excel functions (sort and filter) does not work. Limits bulk data updates.

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    BDM.

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    bring up both DEV and PROD at the same time. do implementation in DEV first, then push to PROD. We did just a PROD environment, but realized a year later, that we needed a DEV environment.

    Nlyte Software works perfectly for our needs and continues to improve with every update.

    We have been using the NLyte DCIM Suite for right around 5 years, and have had no issues. We mainly use the tool to track physical assets within our Data Centers, but Nlyte has the ability to much more such as predicting, power tracking, cooling, etc. The tool works perfectly for our needs and continues to improve with every update.

    Service & support - overall comment

    Great experience with service and support. Nlyte is very quick to reply to issues, and the ticketing system stays up to date and we receive notifications for any issues quickly.

    Always available to answer questions and or direct you to the personnel that can assist.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Take your time in training the staff, make sure they have a good if not a solid understanding of the product. it has many powerful toolsets, and if you just brush through the lesson you will miss an opportunity to remember how to manage all the products Nlyte has to offer in the application

    What do you like most about the product or service?

    Once built, quick access to where the gear is, what power is deployed, the many keys you can use to locate gear. Power and cable management.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    Not easy to navigate the cable management build / connectivity layouts in the product.

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    To be more aggressive on the importance of taking the needed time to review all the training materials and lessons. So much to cover and review, and often not the proper time / window given to grasp all the many tool sets Nlyte has to offer and use to manage your day to day DC needs.

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    Take more time in implementing the product, slow is fast. When you hurry you miss the details or miss important steps to make the product better to use.

    Nlyte is a mature DCIM tool that we rely on heavily for data center management.

    Overall Comment

    Nlyte has become a strong business partner for our data center management organization. We utilize the tool for asset management, workflow management, and management of the data center footprint. We have purchased Nlyte software interfaces (connectors) to other strategic tools within our organization that provide integrated sharing of data; proven to be of great value.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Expand your vision beyond your immediate needs (i.e. asset management) to ensure that you design future processes to mesh well with all capabilities within the Nlyte tool to include workload management and facilities management.

    What do you like most about the product or service?

    Strong relationship we have with Nlyte support team.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    In earlier versions it could be challenging to place certain equipment on the data center footprint. However, the current version offers significant improvement. We have communicated our desire to pull the vendor ratings from the manufacturer name plate and load in the Nlyte database.

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    Nothing significant.

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    We would take the time to consider a holistic review and design of our processes within the data center taking advantage of all of the features of the Nlyte DCIM tool.

    Product capabilities - overall comment

    We have been very satisfied with the Nlyte product capabilities to support data center operations. We have additional needs for facilities management related to PDU management and monitoring that are not available in the base Nlyte package. However, with the recent acquisition of FieldView, those capabilities are now available.

    Integration & Deployment - Overall comment

    As with any product we faced challenges. However, Nlyte support was available and capable of overcoming the challenges.

    Nlyte's approach to DCIM is comprehensive and innovative. The provided solution is enabling us to improve our understanding of our data center space by allowing us insight into areas that we have not previously tracked. Nlyte's team of professionals have proven their knowledge and capability. The Nlyte development road map looks positive for future growth and improvements that have potential to take their product to an even higher level.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Do not hesitate to compare various DCIM solutions side by side. Put each through business specific tests. Be very specific with your requirements and do not run on assumptions that a solution will meet your needs.

    What do you like most about the product or service?

    Application is easy to use.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    Improve the help section to improve and make it user-friendly.

    Nothing

    Improve internal data collection if preparation for rollout.

    Feature Set and Integration Possibilities Second to none.

    Nlyte was a joy to work with. They answered all of our questions and were willing to deal with our rigorous product evaluation process. The application itself does everything we wanted and lots of things we didnt even know we wanted!

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Make sure you play with the tools. The feature sets on paper for most of the DCIM solutions out there are similar so make sure you find one you like and feel comfortable using. There is nothing worse than installing the best product but you can't stand using it!

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    If you dont use the product very often if can be confusing due to the the sheer volume of information available.

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    Did not depend on Microsoft Silverlight for the reporting dashboard section.

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    I would go a little faster. From decision to start investigating DCIM solutions to having a product live took around 18 months. This meant that some of our requirements and documentation was old when it came to implementation which caused confusion.

    Product installation documentation is extensive but did not feel as intuative as I would have liked. Installation services were great and they did an amazing job setting up our system once we had all of the prerequistes sorted out.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Install all the capabilities of the product from Day 1. Most companies are happy to have an inventory and the ability to manage changes within the DCIM tool, but there is a host of other services (Power/Network Mapping) that if done at time of purchase, makes the product more valuable long term.

    What do you like most about the product or service?

    Overall Customer Service and the ability to get the stay with problems until resoultion are key strengths that this vendor has.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    Reporting is cumbersome.

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    Provide quicker turn around on new functionality.

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    Install all the capabilities of the product from Day 1. Most companies are happy to have an inventory and the ability to manage changes within the DCIM tool, but there is a host of other services (Power/Network Mapping) that if done at time of purchase, makes the product more valuable long term.

    True Asset Management Company with Good Roadmap for future enhancements.

    Solution provided complete asset management and API plugins for integration to other DCIM tools. As per our request and feedback the vendor was also able to make changes quickly unlike other companies.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Build your workflows and include all of the teams required to adopt it. Get senior management sign off of the new solution and have onsite audit of all hardware. Imported audited data into Nlyte before going live. This will prevent any outdated records. Management must back the idea that the new solution must be followed for all asset changes to ensure records are kept up to date.

    What do you like most about the product or service?

    Outstanding technical support and attention to detail. Product is very easy to use and create workflows without professional services.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    Needs easier way to set up user permissions.

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    We are very happy that Nlyte provides open dialoge for new ideas for current and future use of the application but it would be nice if they could provide customer related conference or events where user communitiy could exchange ideas and best practices.

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    We would look closer at permissions levels for user groups and how that impacts the workflow.
