    Product(s): Big Cloud Fabric

Great ease of implementation; innovative. Would like even better OpenStack integration

    Overall Comment

BigSwitch Networks are pulling all the tops to make sure we are succesfull in implementing Big Cloud Fabric. Any technical issues encountered have been dealt with very expediently. We are also very satisfied with the CapEx and OpEx experience as regards this product.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

Just try it out to see if it works for you; it's amazingly easy to deploy. If you have a long-standing relationship with a legacy networking vendor, it may take some guts to venture into this new territory but the rewards in terms of CapEx and OpEx are substantial.

What do you like most about the product or service?

Where do I start? Ease of use, reliability, CapEx and OpEx savings, next-generation networking integration with cloud solutions such as OpenStack (P+V support)

What do you dislike most about the product?

Limited HCL (Hardware Compatibility List) may make it difficult or expensive to source critical components such as optics or copper cabling (particularly the latter).

What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

It was difficult to get a clear picture as to which OpenStack NFV (Network Function Virtualization) features - such as, for example, the VPNaaS plugin - are supported natively by BCF. Granted this is difficult because OpenStack is such a fast moving target but it's important information that prospective customers need in order to make such a long term strategic investment.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

Be more agressive in pursuing full physical + virtual (P+V) OpenStack integration with BCF.
