    I wish the 9000 did all the things other Nexus can... We had some issues implementing some multiple route options

    Solid hardware but be very careful with your code versions - Understand the bugs.

    Cisco hardware has been solid and I'm very satisfied with the reliability of the equipment itself. However, we have encountered bugs in the code that impacted production users and services. We had to involve Cisco for a fix that was non-trivial and took a while to diagnose and implement a fix for.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Watch for the known issues in the code version you are going to. Make sure any of these issues either don't apply to you or you can mitigate them.

    What do you like most about the product or service?

    Strong hardware.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    Weak software.

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    Focus more on rock-solid code base rathe than new features.

    My first Cisco network device and it completely sparked my CCNA interest.

    Overall Comment

    The Cisco 9508s have been used as our access switches in our three tier enviorment. I personally manage the switchport configurations and very much enjoy learning and implementing the Nexus OS. I actually obtained my CCNA through extensive hours of practice with it.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Learn the Nexus OS as it is different from the Catalyst series.

    What do you like most about the product or service?

    The universal exceptance. I enjoy reading Cisco forums to help with troubleshooting my three tier topology.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    I have experienced difficulties with the Cisco devices communicating other devices in the topologies peremiter. I've also noted how fast the devices will become obsolete because of a new model.

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    I wish DCNM was a bit more effecient. I feel like with SDN taking hold DCNM should be more streamlined.

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    We would probably look at newer versions of devices as ours were the proven time tested versions. The devices seem to be set for irrelevancy soon.

    At least in two separte cases, Cisco has had to replace these devices without a firm understanding/feedback on the root cause

    Review design and configurations closely

    The Nexus switches have been reliable for the most part

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    Sudden network connectivity issues that Cisco did not have an answer to other than replacing the devices

    provide better feedback on hardware issues

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    Consider another Cisco distribution switch or redesign

    initial response was very good, up-to-speed from Cisco's standards; the issue was that because no issue was found, vendor opted to replace the HW
