NSX helped us achiever our business goals more easily than without the product. Installation required effort across multiple technicle disciplines but the end result was worth the work. Specifically we were looking for a way to achieve layer 2 stretch across sites to facilitate easy VM migrations. The additional features are are huge bonus. Microsegmentation especially.
Have a team dedicated to the effort as a sponosred project. This isnt a easy lift.
It met our functional requirements and has been a great win for the company.
The cost and effort to achieve were signifigant investments.
It would be nice if this was a bundled companent with ESX. As it is it is an add on expense.
Have more discussion around the network requirements of the produt. Especially ESC/vCenter requirements and MYU configuration requirements.

I wish we had more readily available post installation support from the same consultant that we had during the deployment engagement.
Ask as many questions as you can to whoever if helping implement this.
I like the ease it gives us to deploy SDNs.
The vSphere 6.0 web client is very slow.
VMware did a great job.
I would gather better requirements. We did not have a very clear picture for the way we wanted it to work.

vendor has been great to engage with. rapid growth of sddc offerings is making it difficult for them to keep up proper support. engagement with their exec leaders imperative to keep on track
Use GSS at least to review and certtify deisgn
complex at first, fairly long acclimation period
better holistic view of their entire sddc stack from support
hold vendor geet to fire harder
slow ramp up of sddc support on vendor side
