CDH and Hadoop using Cloudera has allowed us to extract, store, deploy and analyze data quickly. This coupled with our BI platform vendor has allowed us to provide data and breadth of data to the business quickly and efficiently. Implementation was a breeze and we have utilized AWS for our data hub, this has allowed us to scale the environment quickly and efficiently managed both cost and availability. Cloudera is a solid solution and an extremely reliable and cost effective solution with great suppoer and processes to enable you to be succesful.
sign up... the solution is solid, stable and flexible. Dont be concerend with this product
Ease to deployment, scalabiity and cost.
User interface could be a little more intuitive but once you learn its quirks it is a breeze.
None, they were very resposive to our needs, resolving issues and engaging in troubleshooting. There are many features and functions in this solution that you can take advantage of.
Planning, make sure you plan for where you think you will go, especially when deploying in the cloud.

Collaboration between partners, vendors, and our firm was key. Also, the evolving spaces of data protection and identity and access managment have been vital the project's success; however, still have room for improvement. Specific areas where I would like to see advances are with data discovery both at ingest and at rest as well as data egress/data loss prevention controls that are native or via a partner. We have a fairly large Cloudera deployment on Oracle BDA's. I would highly recommend using that hardware and making it homogenous across your deoployment. It makes things much easier in terms of management.
Spend the time and money with a professional servicse group (we used a very big name brand company to help). Having true subject matter experts on hand to help you when you are just getting started will pay dividens later.
The agility and performance. Scability was a real seller for us.
Some tools are not available or support on our distribution.
i wish there where more security offerings out of the box and not just with "partners"
Upgraded to the most recent release first. We would have brought in an implementation partner sooner.

It has been a good implementation but due to our skill gap it was a struggle in the beginning. We are also trying to implement a difficult process.
I would look at your skill gap and train employees before implementing it.
They release the apache applications after doing enterprise testing. This helps keep breaks from happening in our system.
It does take time to release the new innovation services in the releases.
I wish they would have built training customized for our use case.
we would work to improve our skill level at our organization. Also, we would have an easy use case for a quick win.

Strong experience on emerging technbologies
Scalability of the solution
complex interface to develop compared to other solution
Nothing of special
If I restart I would involve also internal team in the development phase (training on the job mode) to be able to better manage the relationship with the 3rd party in the future

My team has worked directly with this vendor and they have provided clarification and assistance when needed to validate our process and to confirm our methods.
Utilize experience from other customers and utilize the expertise of the vendor. They want thier clients to have extreme success.
The open source products provide a great wealth of knowledge available from a variety of sources.
My team has not provided any comments to indicate they feel the vendor should do anything differently.
If we could start over we would probably lay out a better business case and metrics for measuring success. From the technology perspective we would not have chosen differently.
My team has never complained or provided negative comments about this vendor and thier willingness to help us meet our needs.

Ease of use is the number one reason to go with Cloudera. Easy to use, easy to work with them.
Ensure that you have the right technical expertise in your company prior to the implementation.
Ease of use.
Cost - but you get what you pay for.
Give more cons with working with their product.
I would have more data scientist depth in my company instead of being so reliant on another company.
Great support and great service.

Very responsive sales team. Technical staff is available and willing to answer questions when needed. Some tools seem to require buyin to their whole stack (e.g. Cloudera Manager).
If you've ever developed any of your own storage technology, you'll need to budget substantially more time to figure out how to integrate with HDFS (regardless of vendor). Once you pull in the Hadoop tool stack, most of your customers will want the same APIs for your other data. You'll either need to commit to moving your data (can be very painful), or implementing a shim.
Code quality and stability seems quite good. We've had few issues and Cloudera has been extremely helpful in uncovering bugs in related packages (e.g. Spark).
N/A - we've been very happy so far.
We've been very satisfied with Cloudera's HDFS support, I can't think of anything they could have done differently. Prices can always be lower of course.
Think about data recovery needs more carefully. Once you commit a substantial amount of data to a particular storage solution, it is very difficult to change directions if that solution doesn't meet your backup and redundancy needs.
Support and ability to debug hard problems was one of the reasons we chose Cloudera to the point of adding a support and consulting contract.
