SQL Server has worked very well for our company for many many years...great product.
Know how to use Google to search for any issues that need resolving...I found great information on how to fix a slow server problem I had that way....tweaking SQL and finding ways to monitor performance and query data.
Features and Reliability.
It costs money and licensing and choosing version a bit confusing.
Make the product free? Maybe even selling it through resellers instead of just Microsoft Store.
Nothing really....all went very smoothly.

Great user community, tons of support from microsoft field engineers. Very good and detailed documentation.
Have a solid plan and requirements ready. Make sure that you have all stakeholders onboard with the solution. Don't rush through it, do it once and right.
Incredible new features on the BI side, nice performance enhancements. Easy migration path.
No particular dislike.
In this implementation we did not experience any issues, but in general microsoft could do a better job with communication about licensing and cost. Also, the constant push for Azure services gets a little bit old after a while.
This was as smooth of an implementation as I have experienced in my 20 years of ERP and application develpment.

SSIS Works well but still limited and old age interfaces causes lot of repetition of same steps over and over again.
Choose wisely - Lot of options are there.
OldAge Interface - Repetition of same steps.
Have given some preference to SSIS/SSRS/SSAS Improvements.
Choose a different Product.

Microsoft has a strong and reliable product, however, it is so big that support in particular issues may be tricky and may take longer.
Yes, to consider migrating to the cloud or at least hybrid.
Cost, reliability, development tools easily available, once understood easy to integrate.
For particular configurations it requires too much research.
Provide better support.
No, we think that was the right way to follow and would follow the same route unless there is a major change in MS strategy.
Very cost effective solution and customers are happy once all tech issues were solved.

Microsoft is and has been a proven market leader in the database space. The change of CEO has only pushed MS further into the future as they embrace their changing role in technology and become more agile in their adoption to new tech and accepting of their changed role in the industry.
With the change in CEO Microsoft is now looking to be a market leader in new emerging tech and not a follower. They are also embracing current methods of doing things and not looking to develop a proprietary MS method.
We might have held of a couple of quarters and moved to SQL Server 2016 but that speaks more to our internal roadmap than what Microsoft was offering at the time.
