Good features on the product and good support. Evaluated many different providers, but none provided the brand-name, security features, and support that Box had. It is extremely granular in the permissions and the performance is outstanding.
Evaluate your business requirements and use cases, and see if all the bells/whistles are needed on those providers.
Granular security and general interface/performance.
No DRM capabilities.
Very aggressive on signing a contract. We need more time for the pilot.
Look at performance first, then narrow down the vendors based on security. Business won't use sluggish providers.

The product implementation went smooth and quick. We were able to leverage OKTA to integrate our active directory system with Box for seemless user login ability. Overall we are very happy with Box.
Make sure to leverage some sort of authentication as a service, like OKTA, in conjunction with Box to prevent your users from needing to remember another username/password combination.
It is very easy to use and allows me to access my documents from all of my end point devices.
I don't have anything to that comes to mind about things I dislike regarding Box.
Nothing, I think they do everything we need very well.

BOX allowed us to seamlessly allow file sharing and collaboration both with Internal and external audience. Started off with a smaller group but in no time was adopted well and extended to the other parts of the organization. The idea was to efficiently collaborate with external customers and also provide it as a medium to share custom software builds with enterprise customers securely. Customer Support uses this to share large test documents and files for daya to day support cases. The idea was to eliminate traditional file sharing approaches, but we had to continue using some of those to cater needs of certain customers who had limitations alowing access to file sharing services on their networks (Not BOX Specifically, but all cloud based file sharing services)
Take som time to organize the structure! Know where your data lives and whats shared (Internally and Externally) and by whom.
Making the platform better and robust and allowing various partner integrations.
Lacks the capability to see the path under which files are (could be a feature that can be enabled for some if not everyone) in our case there are times when collaborators are invited to different e.g. customer folders but those folders could have the same name, so becomes harder to distinguish.
Add better visual reporting capabilities.
Would stick with the original approach we took! We took some good time architecting our folder structures, understanding access levels to allow better organization and governance of the data being uploaded!

Box is a wonderful service and we are very pleased that we made the choice to adopt it. Prior to Box we had everything stored on file servers that could only be easily access while in the office, then moved some content to SharePoint, but that didn't work as hoped. We found Box to be the most comprehensive and secure platform for maintaining our mission critical files.
Spend a lot of time planning, educating, preparing, before doing.
Security is very granular. Everything is cloud based and anyone can get access to thier content from anywhere, on any device, at any time.
Support is mostly by email and seems to always start with a level 1 person, then when it is escalated, it takes too long to get the issue solved.
Better support organization. Listen to what customers are saying about support and make changes.
More planning. We did an internal implementation where we had to stop, rethink, then start over sevral times. We later learned that there are Box Consultants that could have saved us time and energy with our implmentation. Or, we could have engaged with Box directly.

We have been User of box almost since its inception in 2007. Box has always been a pioneering product in the content management space. Their move to the Enterprise space and deep focus on verticals and compliance was key to it success.
The investment you make to secure the assistance of a Box Partner that has verifiable experience in you industry, box Professional Services, or a box Customer Success Manager is the best investment you can make. The investment in services should be anticipated to be at least 2X annual software cost.
Innovation and provision of features which are industry specific. Ability to pick and choose from an app exchange to tailor the platform to the needs of your business.
The lack of recognition of the complexity of SMB users.
Simplify their pricing.
We can't emphasize the importants of being very thorough with the following: 1. Very clearly specifying nomenclature for the labeling of folders and files. 2. Think very carefully about how waterfall permissions are specified. 3. Be very careful about selecton of user types.

Extremely knowledable staff that you need to continue to pick their brain to get the most out of Box. Was please with the quality of resources we have used so far.
○ Take advantage of Box consulting / premier support to be another resource to mitigate issues ○ Get business involved ○ Have them define how much governance or not you want to have Ie., should users be colloborating folders with the team from their 'sharable' personal folder or a Department folder? Multiple people could have the same project management folder if users create and share the same folder ○ Understand some of the key functionality in Box and how you would use ○ Create a strong admin team ○ Chunk out the solution and make sure people are aware of the use cases
it just works
the usage grows so fast, you need to really decide in a bigger organization what the correct level of structure and governance is
Definitely changing waterfall permissions of folders Box for Desktop - but coming soon
spend more time with the structuring of the folders, collaboration rules and administration and validating with the business before implementing users Get more resources involved.

Amazing customer service and customer success management. The mobile app has been instrumental in our user adoption. Box is always innovating and improving based on user feedback. It's the best in breed solution for any company's content mangement.
Implement the Governance piece as well.
Box Sync causes us issues as it can be bandwith heavy and can take up too much space on computer's hard drives if not used correctly.
If employees don't like the application you give them, they will go out and find something they do like on their own. As an organization we need to get in front of this organic growth and partner with the business.

Great team and ready to assist when needed.
Understand the underlying need from business and vailidate with small pilot.
Nothing at this time.
Ask about key control / ownership.
On site training and content would have been helpful early on.

Box Sync faced a lot of issues so our users had to adapt to these changes rather than Box features being enhanced. Also the offering lacks data loss prevention. If a user is syncing files, then that data is cached and Box has no way of removing this data that the user no longer has authorization to access if it has been synchoronized to their computer prior to the authorization change. The security permissions and access are only reflective within the portal and not the local machine.
Set proper expectations with users on features and capabilities and less focus on what Box MAY roll out in hte future
Flexibility and security
Not sold so highly on features that Box had not committed to in the roadmap since a lot of features were removed from the roadmap later.
Set proper expectations with users prior to deployment about capabilities
Could not leverage Box's support due to response time and lack of subject expertise. Our internal support team would often have to figure out the solution. Also, I dont believe Box had enough support members to handle the growth.
