We use a hybrid setup with Egnyte Storage Sync virtual machines syncing our data between dozens of branch offices and the Egnyte-hosted copy. Overall the solution has been excellent, allowing us to quickly and easily deploy this configuration to new offices. Having a solution that is not tied exclusively to our data centers has helped encourage company-wide adoption and standardization of our file server setups. Right off the bat, Egnyte's pricing blew Box and Dropbox out of the water. It wasn't even close. The Egnyte Storage Sync appliances are CentOS VMs which is great; you can pretty much install and do anything you want on them (technically speaking, anyway). Egnyte is a very active company with constant ongoing development. Over three years of using Egnyte Connect, we have seen constant improvements in everything from the desktop client to the Storage Sync VMs to the web interface. Many of our initial challenges have been directly addressed by subsequent updates. When we submit tickets it is not unusual for us to hear from the Product Manager responsible for that component, who will personally keep us posted on the roadmap to an update that resolves whatever problem we were having or implements the feature we were hoping for. Their file versioning system is incredibly useful and easy for everyone to use. This has also saved us when we were hit by ransomware. Egnyte's professional services team simply used a script to restore all the affected files to their previous versions.

Implementation was not difficult. Rollout to user base struggled due to lack of interal resources to address growing pains. Egnyte customer service good with response time and new release schedule that targets functionality.

Product performs and has most required features. User interface is OK, but the main reason for a 4 vs 5. I wish it would allow a synchronization from the desktop to the cloud drive. Instead, it assumes all data is saved on the cloud drive and synchronizes the cloud back down to the desktop for designated folders. Also, there is a Microsoft office desktop that mimics Google Docs multiple user in a document simultaneously type features, but this is only available on Windows machines and not Macs. We are 40% Mac, so cannot take advantage of this feature.

Egnyte has been not only a great product but a business partner willing to listen to our needs and bring to market changes for the AEC market. Not only did they listen, they visited us at our corporate office meeting key stakeholders and then went out to a construction site to see their product in use and were pleasantly surprised how our company was using the product but also our subcontractors. Amazing sense of pride on both sides to continue working together.

Egnyte's offerings have been extremely useful for our business. The most important aspect for our business starting out was the Desktop Sync tool that allowed our "road warriors" to have access to files from the main office without needed VPN. Now, many years later we have grown to use it a our primary file sharing platform around our worldwide offices. We hinge much of our collaborative work upon the Egnyte platform, and it helps us succeed in that regard. The Web access is also very useful and convenient. The bulk of our users really enjoy the web access. Of the issues I've had (which are not very many), Egnyte lack of auto-updating to the Desktop Sync tool is annoying. The application will let you know when it needs to be updated, but I would prefer that it updates automatically. I also greatly dislike the "Trash" bin on the Web client. It's nigh impossible to find a deleted file.

The system works as expected. It's relatively simple to implement and manage. The funcitonality is intuitive. File sharing made easy. Running reports on user permissions is not as straightforward as I would like (i.e., it's not easy to "audit" an individual user's permissions). Probably not a great product if you have multiple users working on the same files simultaneously, but this may be less of a problem if you're using Office 360 (which our office does not use).

Their hybrid cloud storage works and works very well, even at high load. Files stay updated out on the cloud within minutes of changing them on the local file server. The web apps and mobile apps were easy to use and intuitive. That being said, there were some hiccups and sometimes their support was questionable. They always wanted to bring down our in-use production servers to even look at the problems, which was not acceptable in our environment. Ongoing sync processes ran well and quickly. Unfortunately after some threshold the devices would give up and do a "rescan" sync that would take 10+ hours to finish. During that time, no new updates were being pushed to/from the storage sync device. We also had a couple of security concerns where users were able to view folders that they were not allowed to from the storage sync device. Egnyte helped us, but ultimately we had to pull sensitive files from the storage sync servers and rely on their cloud-only solution. We chose Egnyte for it's hybrid capabilities. We previously used Dropbox and Box, but had to give them up as they didn't have a reasonable hybrid solution and our data volume was such that they could not keep up with the sync processes.

Egnyte is an amazing asset for my office and I am very grateful to have it as a tool. It makes it very easy for me to send and share securly as well and tell clients why its a better solution then others. Would never think to use another option.

We have found Egnyte to be an effective solution for file sharing, versioning, backup/recovery, and access from the constraints of VPN from a single workstation. User acceptance of fileshare management by local managers has been spotty, but desireable. Use of linked files was vexing to figure out, but satisfying once we got there. The majority of our user community is French-speaking, and while Egnyte has pledged French support, it's not quite there yet.

The system is easy to implement, not like others would charge big money for implementation.
