Working with Egnyte has been very positive, they spend a lot of time working with their customers to review adoption and usage of the product and check in regularly to share new features.
Product works well, although we still need to more fully deploy the add-on features within our organization. The cost position is high compared to consumer file sharing solutions, but there is value in the administration and addon the feature set.

We have been with Egnyte for around 7 years. We decided to go with Egnyte based on their architecture and how they enabled us to provide the service to employees. We have never had any issues with downtime or service reliability in the years we have been with Egnyte and utilize many of their newest product offerings.
Make sure you have your permissions architecture set up properly from the beginning. It is much easier to set it up correctly at first than rethink how you want it to work after the fact.
It serves its purpose exactly as it should and I never have to worry about my users having issues getting the data they need.
Communication could be better when they are changing how they package and sell their features, we have been charged for existing features when they became a new "package" a couple times now.
I would do everything as we did.
We utilize both their cloud-based platform as well as their local storage sync. This allows our employees to work on documents locally when in the office which is a huge boost to our productivity.
Egnyte support is always very quick to respond to tickets and has a very high rate of closing them quickly. My issue is normally resolved upon first level review from their help desk.
Our deployment was very easy as we started with the service when they still had somewhat basic functionality. It was very easy to upload the limited amount of data we had into their system.

Egnyte has provided great stability, innovation, and support. I have no recorded outages or service interruptions that have affected business operations since we have utilized their services. Support issues they have helped with were with regard to our hybrid storage on premise solution. In truth, they helped with issues from the 3rd party equipment, not their software running on said equipment. I was very pleased with the response time and follow through of their support techs. What I have enjoyed most are the constant innovation and integrations Egnyte provides. Their "Egnyte Drive" has been reimagined into a solution that our business cannot live without. We also utilize office 365 in our organization. The company enjoys the redundancy of use for our office products within the "Cloud" environment should there be software issues on their workstations.
Utilize the implementation services offered by Egnyte. Integration may have been smother for our organization had we done so. Explore all the features, add-ons and apps, you can streamline your business processes and IT infrastructure with little to no effort.
Ease of use and multiple use methods. Giving my users a choice seems to have cut down on shadow IT issues.
Data loss prevention. I am aware they have relese a newer offering to address this but I have been looking into 3rd party solutions to this security issue.
Egnyte recently changed their service offering with an dditional service, I wish I would have known more before and since its debut. in all fairness my rep did attempt to help outline the changes but I havent had time to explore more yet.
Our organization’s policy is to at the very least review our services and vendors once a year. We have yet to find the same value or service offerings. Egnyte has organically grown to be an essential part of our internal business processes.
Service is timely and complete. Egnyte support always follows through till issues are solved.
There is no real complications to the deployment proccess. The one area that took some time was the Active Directory integration. This was agin more on our side than with Egnyte's offering

Initial sales and technology consulting teams were very responsive and knowledgeable. Service tickets are handled within an adequate time frame. Updates are rolled out in a timely manner to address issues.
If possible do the data migration and implementation before letting the end users know that they are using Egnyte. In the offices where the end users were unaware of the changes and thought IT only "added" the features offered by Egnyte, the initial training went much smoother.
The on-site and cloud-based model. After reviewing other offers by other vendors Egnyte was the least disruptive to our business workflow. The added features of remote access and sharing large files are extremely appreciated by our remote end users.
Reliance on third party devices for the hybrid storage model.
If Egnyte offered a branded on-site device/appliance that was sold and maintained by them it would have streamlined the processes even more. The current situation relies on third-party companies. When these companies update their software (ReadyNas, Vmware, etc...) then Egnyte has to update their Storage Sync software to be compatible.
Initially, we tried going all cloud based. The Egnyte Drive software is quick enough for the majority of our users, however, the power users noticed the speed decrease compared to an on-site file server, as expected when trying to manipulate 1000's of pages of PDF's in one go. I suggest going with the hybrid model of on-site and cloud from the start. The transition will be invisible to most users who are familiar with working from Window's shares.
initial calls are handled by over seas support staff. When escalated they are handled by US based support staff.
Everything was handled in-house.

Egnyte stands out because of their ability to identify file sync and sharing challenges and then execute on no-compromise solutions. Unified permissions and integration with industry leading identity management solutions simplify controlling access to data. Comprehensive reporting and auditing functionality has allowed us to easily keep track of how data is being used. We have been able to pull all of our data back into one solution while also improving on the functionality that our users were getting out of other solutions. Moving to Egnyte has been a big win for IT and our users.
If you use Active Directory in-house, plan to leverage the Active Directory integration from the very beginning and base your permissions around the integration. It will make management of users and permissions that much easier.
All of the integrations which allow us to use Egnyte as the central storage for the rest of the services we leverage.
The inability to automatically recover "seats" via Active Directory integration as users are retired in Active Directory. This process currently requires manual intervention, although accounts are automatically disabled which reduces the severity of this issue down to more of an administrative nuisance.
Nothing comes to mind.
Nothing comes to mind. As long as you start out with a vision of how the system will be used in the long run and implement it with that vision in mind, there shouldn't be any "gotcha's" to get hung up on.
Egnyte is the first solution we have found that was able to provide all of the functionality we needed, and more!
Egnyte is willing to go the extra mile to support their clients. One such example of this is leveraging the functionality available in their platform to provide protections against crypto locker type malware: https://helpdesk.egnyte.com/hc/en-us/articles/218005607-Crypto-Recovery
Deploying even the more complicated integrations within Egnyte is well documented and we have been able to do so in-house with minimal involvement from Egnyte and no need for third-party engagements.

We were an early implementer of this service and which was and still is unique in the market. Early on we had some struggles with standalone Netgear appliances but the support team worked tirelessly to solve them. Once up and running the service has proved to be simple to use and gives us the any device, any location, anytime access to information that is important to our users.
Utilize the VMware appliances for local storage sync.
Simple access to data from anywhere while still being a robust platform that meets the security and feature set needs of the business.
Missing long term archival
Partnered with a long term backup solution. We currently use Amazon cold storage for long term archiving.
We would utilize the VMware appliances for storage sync in all locations. These appliances are robust and work well for our organization.
They keep pace with market needs and innovate as well.
We recieve fast service and quality support when we have issues.
Early issues with Netgear devices but this is much better today.

Deployment was great. Egnyte assisted us all along the way and followed up once/week. Departments workflows have been improved. Google Drive integration made for easy transition. Any technical issue we encountered was addressed in a timely fashion. We are continuing to experience issues with Storage Sync using a Netgear ReadyNAS. Technicians have assisted us here, but issues keep coming up. No users have really noticed, but if these problems get worse or are exacerbated by anything, that could change.
Make sure you have great implementation leads as there are a lot of steps and you will certainly have questions along the way.
The option to invite our vendors to log-in to our instance has been a game changer! We also rely heavily on the storage sync option for locally hosted/cloud hosted hybrid data!
Constant issues with storage sync. The technicians call me on off-hours to resolve (8pm on a Friday night).
Not the biggest fan of outsourced IT.
I think we executed this in a very linear fashion and really wouldn't do much different except be more aggressive with teams about transitioning.

Loved the integration with On-premises servers and the integration with other cloud providers.
There are many options to access the the data in the cloud. Limit the choices that you want to support.
That I can save every version of every file and retain trash indefinitely.
The interface to filter trash.
Add workflow with the approvals.

Implementation was easy thanks to outstanding customer support. Egnyte provides outstanding customer support, technical support, and administrator and end-user training. These factors played a big role in our successful implementation.
Start with Egnyte.
Storage Sync. Users have fast local access to files stored on a common storage device. Files are synced to the cloud in real time.
Egnyte customer service and technical support is responsive and knowledgeable.
Integration and deployment were more complex than ShareFile due to Storage Sync and AD integration. Egnyte provided complete instructions and helpful technical support.

Deployment across the enterprise in multiple business units where they can each keep some unique identity has gone well. We continue to work on product roadmap and how that meets ongoing needs in particular around document retention practices and metadata on information.
Make sure to evaluate terms based upon existing footprint and leave room for future growth. The product can very quickly catch fire and spread, so you should be prepared for that in your up front negotiation terms. Also, pay attention to data ownership and what happens should you need to separate from the cloud file solution provider.
The integration with Microsoft Outlook in particular works well for our business.
Metadata strategy is still unclear.
