    Cylance Protects and Serves

    Overall Comment

    The Cylance agent has an extremely High detection rate for malicious and suspicious activity. The solution has a low false positive rate. Cylance Professional Services and Customer Support are top notch and some of the best vendor interactions I have experienced.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Do not view PUPs as false positives. They could very well be business legit or not harmful. However, they might be against your application policy and "unwanted". They also could be poorly written applications and utilise "markers" that are used in malicious coding. The PUP control is a very extensive and powerful control that can be used to keep your desktop compliance policies in check. Also get a better understanding of how "scripts" are used in your environment and set script controls to "alert" only until you are extremely sure how it will interact with your environment.

    What do you like most about the product or service?

    It stops malicious and "crap" extremely fast. Cloud-based agent connectivity vs on-prem management systems reduces support needs. The protection and control solution providers have extremely reduced our need to re-image devices and the amount of time it takes to analyse an event. The agent is very light weight and extremely low overhead. Cylance Professional Services and Customer Support is impressive and some of the best.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    Web Portal needs more attention in regards to ad-hoc reporting ability and event notification. However, it is not a "dislike" of the product. They are areas that need more enhancement.

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    Web Portal, Policies and Notifications. All policy controls should be available within the cloud policy and not only at the local physical agent level. With roaming/remote devices and security measures to lock devices down, it can be almost impossible to physically get access to a device to make a change. I see the need to have both options. For us most every device has enough Internet access to constantly sync with the cloud. The web portal needs to enhance ad-hoc reporting (compliance), event notification options and more detailed role management.

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    I would have expanded my POC deployment to a broader-based group of devices. To get a better understanding of how PUPS and Script Control would have an effect.

    Cylance is a great product. There is always room for new features and improvements.

    Fast and prompt responses. Knoweledgeable and always able to provide an "option" if a feature is not currently available.

    It's unlike any other software out there and it does what it says. Although a growing company their hands on approach is nothing short of amazing.

    Reporting could be improved.

    Nothing. They nailed it.

    Purchase Cylance earlier.

    Cylance is the only technology that prevents today's threats using math. It just works.

    Overall Comment

    Cylance is the only technology that uses math to prevent compromise without relying on signatures. It is the only technology, among many in our defense-in-depth model, that has consistently discovered and blocked malicious software that other "leading" technologies can't. We sleep better at night knowing that Cylance PROTECT is on our endpoints.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Test it and see for yourself.

    What do you like most about the product or service?

    Ease of use. It just works.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    N/A

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    It would be great if Cylance had a network device as a direct competitor to FIreEye and others.

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    QA more aggressively to identify incompatibilities with our server environment.

    While relatively new, we made the decision to go with Protect because of the consistent failures with traditional AV. It has saved us considerable time and money relative to incident response and recovery.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Perform software asset management, assign every application to an owner (I know this sounds trivial, but not every app has an owner all the time).

    What do you like most about the product or service?

    Response times, willingness to work through previously unseen challenges related to legacy applications.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    Literally nothing at this point. I know that's not helpful, but honestly that's the case.

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    Script control, while a bit nascent, will continue to improve. Time and effort needs to be spent there as more and more bad actors are leveraging native tools like powershell to exploit corporate systems.

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    Our approach seemed to work well, and Cylance worked diligently with us on any issues that arose.

    While the deployment was quick, we ran into conflicts with previously installed applications and memory allocation. Cylance worked with us and our application vendor to address immediately.

    Nothing else we evaluated even came close to stopping the Ransom-ware

    We started evaluating Cylance in very early 2015 after a series of crypto variants kept on coming and impacting operations. Traditional protective technologies just weren't keeping up. We made the decision to move forward and have not looked back. Cylance was extremely engaged in the whole evaluation and deployment process. Their support team is responsive. We have been ransomware free for 18 months!

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Use the threat zero methodology to eliminate existing threats and waive off the false positives before moving into auto-quarrantine. There are some software packages that are coded poorly and will trigger Cylance.

    What do you like most about the product or service?

    Very low overhead compared to signature based AV. We saw performance on certain batch jobs improve by 50+%

    Proof of concept showed that this product performed as expected. Vendor was easy to work with and provided our team with all the tools and training to provide advanced threat protection to our endpoints.

    End Point Protection that really works with Services to ensure success.

    Our experience with Cylance was nothing less than professional. Cylance handled the internal politics of local government and the delays etc. that are experienced when procuring any product let alone a critical product such as endpoint protection. So much so they extended the POC several times to accommodate my engineers time constraints, the internal politics of a server branch versus Cyber Security disagreement over the final product. Very professional and accommodating. Coupled with the professional, highly skilled Cylance employees and my engineering team, we were able to 15K endpoints initially, then added several K more. This solution is managed by one FTE and that is not on a full-time basis, that same FTE now manages our SIEM and DLP solutions as well.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Try the product in a POC. If you do not POC this product you are in my opinion going to get hit.

    What do you like most about the product or service?

    Products actually work and is very effective. Significantly less administration with this solution. Services are professional and highly skilled.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    Nothing to this point.

    Nothing comes to mind.

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    I would have started earlier than we did.

    No Ransomware after a year with the product. Who else can say that!

    Overall Comment

    No problems with Ransomware! Initial implementation took significant effort to ensure that our existing poorly coded off the shelf applications continued to operate after blocking was configured. An organisation with a simpler application landscape would have a much easier time. Ongoing support has been limited to troubleshooting claims of problems with the agent and some architecture where updates over the cloud were exceeding the bandwidth of the satellite link. This was overcome by SCCM agent update deployments for these sites.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Negotiate pricing

    What do you like most about the product or service?

    The low maintenance protection and lack of required signatures to be continuously updated.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    Support isn't available as of 8/23/2016 for Linux based systems.

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    On-premise based option for the console

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    We would have allowed more time for the initial implementation and structured the groups to allow more granular, function based management up front.

    Cylance's seamless deployment stops ransomware in its tracks.

    Cylance's endpoint protection product has made an immediate impact in our environment, reducing malware and most importantly ransomware. The implementation was almost completely seamless to our users, who tend to be sensitive to change.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Don't be afraid. This does exactly what we need with little administration. It takes a little time to work through your special software, but by and large it was handled almost completely by a single junior security analyst, for over 5000 users.

    What do you like most about the product or service?

    Better salvage of systems that do not check in regularly. More granular reporting.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    Limited reporting and scavenging of computers. Hard to track total "active" licenses in use.

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    Don't be afraid. This does exactly what we need with little administration. It takes a little time to work through your special software, but by and large it was handled almost completely by a single junior security analyst, for over 5000 users.

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    Seek better ways to validate installation success. We used SCCM to push and it was prone to some false positives. Not Cylance's fault for sure.

    Does what it says. That's key. Cylance is a play on words that the product works "silently". It does that beyond compare.
