Enterprise Wired and Wireless LAN Infrastructure Reviews and Ratings

What is Enterprise Wired and Wireless LAN Infrastructure?

Gartner defines the enterprise wired and wireless LAN infrastructure market as that of vendors supplying wired and wireless networking hardware, and the related network software. Products in this market enable devices and end users to connect to the enterprise wired LAN or Wi-Fi network in support of the required organizational mission. Supported network devices are inclusive of end-user-operated devices such as laptops, smartphones and networked office equipment; and non-user-operated devices such as Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

"EX Line one of the most suitable for edge infrastructure, as well cost efficient."

EX series switches are one of the most stable switches line, perfectly suitable at access layer. As always very easy management as well deployment. And Juniper TAC support is also very good, highly skilled engineers. They uses JunOS which is one of the most easiest operating system to work with, easy rollback, hierarchical configuration.

"Aruba is the leader for a reason"

After dealing with the headaches for years, we decided to to a complete refresh and chose Aruba. We had a few bumps because of how Aruba does things as opposed to Cisco, but once we got through that, everything was super simple. We were able to build the AP config and test using 1 AP, and then have the rest shipped directly to the site. As long as the AP you configure is powered up first, the rest will boot up and download their config from that unit. Making the install and deployment of an entire office super simple.

"Campus fabric deployment in large HQ and branch offices"

After an RFI/RFP process we concluded that Extreme Networks had the most modern and scalable solution that would satisfy our requirements, and at the same time being standards based. As a bonus the cost of the solution was very competitive. The deployment was quite large, more than 8000 wired switch ports and about 230 access points, so obviously there were some configuration issues due to fabric and EXOS technology being new to us, but Extreme support was great and helped us sort everything out very quickly. The solution has proved to be reliable and has exceeded expectations.

"Reliable and cheap product with fantastic performance"

We have used a variety of UniFi access points including the long range, lite, in-wall and outdoor. Every one of them has offered fantastic performance and reliability, whilst coming in at a great great price. We've deployed around 300 of their AP's in the last couple of years and only had 1 or 2 completely fail on us. The price blows the likes of Cisco out of the water, however their performance isn't compromised for the lower price point, nor is the product support or updates. We have been using UniFi AP's for several years and still deploy them on a weekly if not daily basis, this month alone we've installed over 20 of them.

"Fortinet is the closest you'll actually get to a single pane of glass for networking"

We ran a 6 month Pilot with various vendors to find the best product that would fit our requirements and budget. None of the other products tested were able to cover all requirements as fully as Fortinet. Aspects of the pilot covered SD-WAN, Switching, Wireless, Routing and NGFW. of all the SD WAN Products tested, only Velo Cloud was better, however they didn't have edge security worth using. Meraki was easy to use but SD-WAN was sub par. Aruba had the best wireless, but their SD-WAN was temperamental and security, even with the add-ons was not nearly as good as Fortinet.

"Business-centric wireless APs which can be banked upon"

Very happy with the overall result of access point by Fortinet. Due to our headquarters being spread over multiple buildings (in the same premises) obtaining a good access point provider with least latency between the client and server seem to be a big task until we discovered Fortinet's FortiAP. It made life simpler for the network admins with trustworthy and state of art technology.

"Expected gold standard technology and service and haven't been disappointed"

Went through an extensive RFP process to select HP/Aruba as the successful technology. The technical capabilities of the platform were at the top of the field. However, even though we had a brief history with the vendor before the RFP, the local sales and support team has been nothing but world class. We had a number of difficult questions on configuration during our deployment and never felt more than a phone call away. We highly value HP/Aruba's after sales approach.

"Experience of interaction between Huawei and our organization"

Huawei offers a large amount of telecommunications equipment used in our Company of Unified Energy System, in particular, in MES East. These are equipment for data transmission networks, equipment for multiplexing the level of SDH, OTN, Packet and DWDM. Huawei equipment has shown a high level of reliability, which is a critical indicator in the power sector. The technical support site is rich in detailed materials, instructions and technical documentation. Numerous tools are very helpful to simplify network configuration and prototyping. The technical support site facilitates the administration and maintenance of the existing network, helps with the development of the network. If the technical support website does not have the required information or if there are faults on the network, the vendor is ready to connect its engineers to solve problems. Huawei has a wide range of courses for network administration engineers, network architects and designers. The courses allow you to improve the level of competence of our engineers. When implementing investment projects, the vendor's engineers help with the analysis and selection of technical solutions. Huawei offers a flexible system of discounts on equipment (especially when purchasing it for investment projects). Huawei is one of the best price-quality ratio vendors, whose equipment is used in our organization. Our Company of Unified Energy System expresses its gratitude to Huawei for the high quality of work and technical support.

"Cisco Wireless Access Points, Rock Solid Performers!"

The only thing that I don't like about Cisco wireless access points is the time it takes to determine what access points might be deprecated by the next software upgrade to the wireless LAN controllers. Don't get me wrong, all the documentation is there it just takes quite a bit of time to read everything and make the determination. Someone really needs to automate the process. That said, doing upgrades can be a little time intensive, but not that much worse than any other system we maintain. Running Cisco wireless is for the most part, a very hands off experience. It delivers wireless services to our end users and to our guests and has really become like the AC in the wall. It just works. On the rare occasion when things do happen the tools are there to help you troubleshoot the issue fairly quickly.

"Extreme delivers the products that we need with minimal configuration and solid support."

Extreme's vision for the pairing of the wired and wireless LAN is exceptional. They understood the needs of our environment and were able to position the right product for our application. The CloudIQ has been a very solid product for us. We are very happy with the support we receive, and how well the back end API functions to give us the ability to customize some aspects of the product. Every step of the way I feel like Extreme really values us as a customer. The sales process was very smooth, and the salesperson was able to get us all the information we needed as we weighed our decisions. Since the purchase, we've gotten a lot of support and advice from the engineering team as we implemented the solution.

"Cloudvision is THE Essential Component to Insure Success with an Arista Network"

We have deployed the Arista Spine-Leaf data center network in several data center environments. Each environment utilizes Cloudvision for configuration management, monitoring, troubleshooting and reporting. Cloudvision has a wealth of capabilities that provide a depth of monitoring and management that other solutions struggle to achieve. Cloudvision is definitely a key component to deliver a fully managed data center network solution. The built-in Change Control function is essential for managing configuration updates to network devices. It allows us to stage the updates, run device updates in parallel, serial, or a combination of these, and also provides the ability to back out updates, if necessary. Having the ability to do this across a large number of network devices is essential, whether these devices are in the data center (as ours are), or if they are across an enterprise network.
