The EBS products work well and feature patches for even older 12.1.3 apps are nice. 12.2.9 ha smany new features that my company will take advantage of. Every year Oracle releases more tools to make cloud transitions easier, but is good to  know customers aren't forced to,

The EBS Suite on-premise has been a long journey of customizations due to our business model. Also, response times to our SRs is very slow from Oracle Support.  Performance issues with our BI data feeds & core EBS application requests run longer than necessary requiring constant tuning.

What I like about 12.2 EBS is the ability to patch while the system is running. Once you are on 12.2, any upgrade after that will not require hours of downtime as with previous versions. Depending on the different patches that are applied, you can upgrade, lets say from 12.2.5 to 12.2.9 with just a couple hours of downtime. The patches itself may run for a good chunk of the day but the downtime to the business is very limited. Sometimes, you may need to look manually intervene during a cutover process, but overall online patching is a huge benefit.
