Implemented at previous company. Great BPM engine. Complex front end development with oracle ADF.
If you are using Oracle SOA, BPM is a great platform to explore.
Allows flexibility on UI Development Framework.
See if we can utilize the engine and use a different UI framework.

Functionality and performance were good and met expectations and needs. Availability of 3rd party services experienced with the product turned out to be low, causing challenges for ramp-up. Some configuration issues at first with the product on AIX and memory manager conflicts but eventually resolved. Some enhancements to documentation would help. Training was good.
Focus on both a governance roadmap, centers of expertise, as well as having a robust resourcing strategy from the beginning.
Delivers on flexibility, integration goals, robust platform, business process automation functions work well.
Debugging at times can be a challenge, particularly when integrating with other elements in the enterprise (e.g. directories, etc.).
Comprehensive resolution of setup problems only really available through professional services contract - would prefer more robust assistance in the start-up phase.
Engage an SOA architecture specialist to address both architectures as well as governance from the start. Resolve 3rd party availability before purchase - i.e. make part of the evaluation criteria.
