    Product(s): Planview Enterprise

Consultants are very knowledgable and great but the performance of the product had issues.

    Overall Comment

Consultants we worked with were great but there were few disappointing issues with the product. We were disappointed with the performance of the system and the integration with MS Project wasn't as easy as expected. They have great implementation methodology.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

Work with Planview Implementation (Engagement) consultant to set up the system. They have great implementation methodology.

What do you like most about the product or service?

Systematic and proven implementation methodology and all the features of the product.

What do you dislike most about the product?

the performance of the system. Data being saved every time you change information which causes major delay in performance when dealing with large data. MS Project integration is not as seamless.

What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

Provide more useful knowledge base system. Online guide explains the concepts but does not show the user how to perform the task.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

I would have looked into the performance of the system more carefully and asked better questions regarding integration with MS Project.

    Product(s): Planview Enterprise

Planview Cloud solution for Enterprise PPM.

    Overall Comment

Vendor product has some flaws but provides massive value to senior IT and business leadership. Allows deeper insight into portfolio, prioritization of effort, capacity and cost to deliver projects.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

Do not attempt to change your business to meet platform, the platform must be adaptable to your business.

What do you like most about the product or service?

Deep analysis of date for the portfolio.

What do you dislike most about the product?

Tool itself needs to redesign and I feel if was not designed specifically for portfolio management but was designed off another platform, clunky to use.

What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

A more modern and easier to use interface.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

Implementers need a deeper understanding of each portfolio before attempting a cookie cutter approach to configuration.

    Product(s): Planview Enterprise

Full featured, don't expect it to be easy to implement.

    Overall Comment

Very capable integration team but support after the sale has been less than satisfactory: simple questions result in iterative interactions and routing through multiple support personnel. While there is a wealth of self-help available, for the new adopter finding exactly what you need is a daunting task and one has the feeling of being adrift with the application. Its features set is extensive--a plus--but that also leads to being puzzled by how to actually execute the various features.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

Let your sponsor and executive management know that implementing what is essentially an ERP for IT does not happen overnight, that it needs full visible and vocal support or the Doubting Thomases and skeptics will take the tact of waiting you out, wearing you down, testing your resolve while being vocal about how clumsy, time-consuming maintaining their data in Planview is. You need the top dog to stand in the room, look every manager in the eye and tell them this is important and that their adoption will be measure and part of their goals for the year. Put a value on their adoption; affect their bonus or raise. This should be that important.

What do you like most about the product or service?

This puts all of our project data in ONE place. No longer will we hunt down project status in PowerPoint on our SharePoint project sites. This integrates project activities, resources, skill sets, and financials (if you're allowed).

What do you dislike most about the product?

Time tracking functionality is more clumsy and time-consuming than we thought it would be. And the UI is less than the 21st century.

What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

Walk us through a day in the life of a Resource Manager, Project Manager, and Portfolio Manager. And do it a FEW times. Navigating Planview can be confusing until you've done it a few times.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

We would engage the vendor for a longer period past the initial implementation. One needs more hand holding to actually execute the application in real time beyond the workshops that tend to be quickly paced, and not having a partner readily available once we went live lead to confusion in steps and frustration. If I had to do this again, I would have engaged their support services so that we could enjoy conversations with a warm body. The ticketing system is perhaps too efficient, giving quick answers that don't always answer the question or resolve the issue.

    Product capabilities - overall comment

Planview Enterprise is a full featured PPM tool.

Service & support - overall comment

Many questions result in multiple iterations to actually get an answer that we both understood and which solved the issue at hand.

Integration & Deployment - Overall comment

High quality integrators---they had superior knowledge of the application, but like some professors who are way too familiar with their subject matter, they glossed over some of the nuances that we found later.

Crawl, Walk and run approach. Don't go for big bang implementation.

    Overall Comment

Planview has robust PPM capabilities, you have to choose right modules and implement them gradually in the organization.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

It's always about your PPM processes. Define the process before implementing on the tool.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

Always think about organizational change management aspect when implementing PPM tool.

    Product(s): Planview Enterprise

Planview has given our IT department the ability to be more transparent to our business.

    Overall Comment

Planview has worked hard to ensure our company's success, however, our Planview Implementation specialist was not as familiar with the product as we had hoped. We were able to overcome this by dedicating our team to this project.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

Planview as used in our company provides great detail to finance and to our business groups. The tool could be more robust for day to day project management activities/functions.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

We had an exhaustive list of requirements that we provided to Planview. Given our company's push towards Agile development, we should have picked a tool that has more collaboration features (e.g. JIRA).

    Product(s): Planview Enterprise

Pleased with our tool choice so far but still in early days.

    Overall Comment

Worked well - Overall a good product and some very good industry leading knowledge in processes in the PPM space. What didn't work so well - Poor ability to migrate data from existing systems.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

Overall make sure that you are clear on what your top priorities are for implementation. Also, make sure that they keep up with documenting changes to the design as you make choices using their iterative process.

What do you like most about the product or service?

    Very clear implementation methodology.

What do you dislike most about the product?

    Poor ability to import data.

What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

Better data migration, import capability. Only very basic information can be imported and for imports, there is no way to take advantage of the workflow capability in the tool.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

Drive more clarity on what their capabilities were to migrate from our existing tools. We probed on this, but it has been a key pain point.

Service & support - overall comment

We should have purchased ongoing support from the vendor. They were great through deployment, and we missed them when they were gone.

    Good outcome.

    Overall Comment

We had a good outcome with the install. There were a few issues, mainly about integration of solution - when the data changes were not flowing in on a desirable timeframe. Other more minor issues related to training of users.

What do you like most about the product or service?

Good collection of queryable data. Ability to project out costs was a good thing to have.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

Have training done in phases ahead of the deployment.

Integration & Deployment - Overall comment

    Issues with data dependencies.

    Product(s): Planview Enterprise

Implementation was not hard but moving to a more Agile process does not really work.

    Overall Comment

Now moving to an agile process workflow and the tool does not support this. Using multiple work streams makes it more difficult to track for PM's. Also does not support the dependency management process fully so we had to add forms and other processes around the implementation of dependency management through the risk and issue process.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

Don't believe the product can do all.

What do you like most about the product or service?

    Very robust tool.

What do you dislike most about the product?

Too robust. Business units tend to want to add/change things.

What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

Adapt to a agile process more quickly.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

Start with Portfolio then Resource then Project Management.

    Product(s): Planview Enterprise

Great tool but implementation of project could be more user-friendly.

    Overall Comment

Great tool for portfolio management, resource management, project financial and investment management. During implementation, the project schedule could have been more user-friendly. Smart sheets were a challenge for example.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

really understand you license need and there are many to try to figure out based on role.

What do you like most about the product or service?

intake, planning, and resource allocation process in the tool.

What do you dislike most about the product?

making changes to the tool is a challenge.

What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

Plainview did not read and understood our business and technical requirements during implementation. We provided large volumes of the template to follow but they were never looked at and we needed to build the environment ourselves. Not user friendly when you want to customize.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

we would have had our department and organization structure better defined along with the role assignment that would be needed from a license perspective.

Don't use tools to drive process.

    Overall Comment

The product has many features for a traditional PM experience. However, the product was too cumbersome for our PM maturity level, we are still developing. Our internal PM process is not well developed so we were using the tool to force the process development. In addition, Planview seems very finance-oriented for portfolio prioritization, etc. and as a private company we don't do that granular of financial planning and oversight.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

If you are not very mature in the process then start with light weight tools.

What do you like most about the product or service?

    Tiles and dashboards.

What do you dislike most about the product?

Cumbersome for day-to-day work. We just don't work like that.

What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

The vendor was fine throughout, we just didn't have our process together.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

Develop internal process first and find tools that fit the work culture.

    Product capabilities - overall comment

Tons of capability, we are just not ready to use them.

Service & support - overall comment

Vendor has been responsive to any suppor needs.

Integration & Deployment - Overall comment

As SaaS solution was easy to deploy.
