We first had another implementation partner but shifted in the middle of the design. Extremely important to have right skilled resources to orchestrate the design for the first implementation.
For the Design and implementation, start small and learn the product before taking full scope of master data into consideration. You need a strong solution architect that can orchestrate to design and implementation and not only delivering what you asking for.
Possible to centralize the Master Data Governance and analyses for improvements.
Mostly focusing on ERP master data as out of the box functionality. Master Data to other systems like CRM, SCM etc. needs to be built.
Closer collaboration between them as implementation partner and internal IT for faster knowledge transfer and understanding of IT and business constraints.
Interviewing all resouces for the implementation including the main Vendor and 3rd party.
Helps centralize, govern and measure accuracy of Master Data.
Internal support organization.
We implemented MDG-M as an add-on to SAP ECC which made the integration and deployment easier and reliable. ECC is still the Master of Master Data and MDG governs the data.
