Xcode integrated development environment (IDE), iOS Software Development Kit (SDK)

Xcode is there really another Choice?

Apple makes nice products that there is a strong supportive community. It's the only program you can use to make a .ipa

iOS Software Development Kit (SDK)

Its super easy to acquire and get started up and running in moments.

We achieved the flexibility we want but it costs us more time

Picking the Apple meant that we could be working on the bleeding edge. We wanted to have more control and a higher adoption rate. We have found that it means more time for development as we don't have much abstractions between Apple and Google Android.

The best native development tool.

It is an excellent product. There is a great deal of complexity but it has worked well for us even as we migrate from Objective C to Swift.

Storyboards make some things easy, but are still hard

The IDE is great if you know where everything is. However if you come from a Java background or a C# background, then it can be quite overwhelming the controls and panels that make up the IDE. I'm okay with it since I took the time to familiarize myself and know where all the shortcuts are. It keeps evolving, but overall the layout of things seem to work for it. The storyboard for UX design is the worst part. It's a step up from nibs, but it continues to make merging code difficult. Also, the drag and drop mechanism doesn't always work hand-in-hand with approved designs or updates. If I need to update something in the middle of a scrollview, then all my constraints are gonna be messed up. We've started to use react native to relieve some of the tensions of implementing UI using storyboards.

Great product. Loved the ease of use for the end user.

Great product overall. Was satisfied with the complex but easy to pick up nature of the software.
