The InsuranceSuite contains three totally separate components, Policy Center, Claims Center and Billing Center. It was like implementing three separate systems and required integration built among them. It was way more complicated than we anticipated. Also, Guidewire's main lines of business are for home and autos. Implementing Workers Comp required more "customization" than anticipated. The data migration process was very complicated as well. It was a very expensive implementation and also required extra IT staff with unique Guidewire expertise for its support after go live.

The overall experience has been good with the product. However, we struggled to get quality personnel outside. Consultants from vendors were too costly.

Guidewire was a good vendor, with good support, adequate training, and reference materials. Their professional service teams are typically well versed in the product and the industry. Overall a very good vendor for this type of product.

Delivering technology solutions that are leading edge can sometimes turn to bleeding edge if proper expertise is not available,from your internal staff or vendors. There will be a lot of mistakes, trips, falls, but if you get back up and keep running our technology platform is getting better and more stable day by day. Time well spent on planning/architecture will pay dividends in avoidance of rework. We had examples of that on both sides. All in all a decent experience, time to market records were broken!

Guidewire's services generally provides above average consultants. However, they often do not follow Guidewire's own best practices which can be very frustrating. The product suite overall appears to be targeted to small or very small carriers which can make it challenging to implement at medium to large carriers. Performance and product upgrades can be an issue. Don't be surprised if a maintenance release causes big headaches.
