Very effective and flexible email security appliance with some challenges on updates.

Excellent performance and exceptional flexibility. I am always impressed with the level of customization and the detailed visibility you get from the interface. I did experience license renewal issues and a general failure requiring a rebuild. When this system was not available, end users realized just how effective it is on a day to day basis.

Provide excellent mail hygiene with a low false positive rate.

The Cisco Email Security Appliance has proven to be an excellent mail hygiene appliance that is able to provide service with a low false positive rate, and definitions are automatically updated via Cisco on a regular basis. It's able to quarantine email for a set number of days in case staff needs to retrieve, and it is capable of emailing staff with their quarantine so they can self-release false positives.

Rich feature set, interface took a little bit to get used to

The CES product has done a very good job reducing the amount of SPAM getting into our organization. Our previus product did not have to granularity of control that CES provides, very feature rich solution. Admin interface was very different than what I had used in the past, not hard, but took a little bit to learn to navigate.

Super easy implementation

Proof of Concept (POC) was excellent. SMEs on the call as we tested the features. It was easy to test and implement. All we did was 1 hour call once a week for 5 weeks.

initial implementation was effortless. the hardest part was training the users to retrive mail from the filter.

Support teams need more training

much of the support is outsourced to offshore support, so there can be big delays in getting expert level assistance. Code revisions often impliment more bugs than are being fixed.

Anti-Spam, set it and forget it

During our Proof of Concept the support from Cisco was not as good as I expected but once we were beyond that it was quite good, Our system took about 6 months to fine tune and eliminate the majority of false positives
