    EOP implementation is straightforward and MS has committed to continual improvement

    Overall Comment

    When we implemented EOP it lacked standard features available with competing products i.e. Proofpoint and Cisco IronPort. Since then however its caught up with the anti-malware feature sets specifically speaking URL re-writing and sandboxing functionality. We haven't been compromised, so it's been good experience though improved granularity in settings related to anti-spam settings would be great.

    Great product...for a price.

    My only concern is regarding licensing and costs. While they can be clarified with a little work, the pricing seems to fluctuate at times and causes me some concern over the long haul as I could see the fees increasing.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Ensure your organization is ready for this move to the cloud. Ensure you understand the recurring pricing models as much as possible.

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    Lock in prices and maintain standard offerings. It seems like Microsoft changes their offerings and licensing structures and it creates changes in pricing.

    We have been using Microsoft technologies and we leverage the good academic relationship we have with them. Microsoft has great relations with the academic instituts and maintains it.

    take time for planning.

    Easy Implementation and administration, needs to better catch spam and phishing emails.

    Overall Comment

    EOP was very simple to implement. We redirected our MX record and reconfigured our SMTP gateway for applications. EOP does not filter as well as our former product, IronPort, but it is simpler to administer and requires less maintenance.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    EOP is a simple product to implement and maintain. You need to evaluate that ease vs. your user communities tolerance of spam and knowledge to detect phishing scams.

    It's ease of implementation and lack of significant maintenance

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    It does not catch as much spam, phishing, and virus emails as the leaders in this industry.

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    It wish the scanner caught more of the phishing and 0-day viruses.

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    We would probably augment EOP with the IronPort appliance.

    It's a good product, it just isn't the best overall email protection service.

    Service & support - overall comment

    We utilize Microsoft Premier Support. they are very prompt and can typically provide a recommendation if we encounter an issue. It usually involves doing something on our end users desktop rather than globally through EOP though.

    Lots of mail delays and spam issues since the new version has been implemented.

    Setup custom rules.

    Ease.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    Not very configurable.

    More direct response.

    Implementation Easy, Could use better migration tools.

    Ease of use, friendly UI, could use better migration tools to detect current spam environment and help provide cutover instructions.
