Symantec provided subject matter expertise to ensure the product capabilities meet the business objectives while balancing the security requirements.
if you plan to move DLP to support hosted Exchange, make sure you fully understand the email quarantine requirements which may not work with Symantec. Cloud for Email and/or integrate with other Email security providers.
The best DLP solution available.
Lack of support for outbound email quarantine if you are a Symantec .Cloud customer.
Vendor and VAR should have communicated this limitation earlier.
Due to technical limitations, the product is unable to support key business requirements without an additional technical deployment being deployed. If we could start over, this limitation would have resulted in different business requirements; however, we are too far along to make these drastic changes.
Symantec DLP with SMG as an on-premise solution exceeds expectations; however, clients looking to use Symantec cloud version of SMG (Cloud for mail) will find challenging deploying an outbound email quarantine capability.
Support for SMG functionality in the Cloud for outbound quarantine is not existent. Knowledge from product teams is minimal.
DLP offers many features; however, one key features for us is DLP for mail. This capability works and one of the supported options is to quarantine outbound emails. Unfortunately, the DLP product has no integration with Symantec Cloud for email.

MessageLabs was a pioneer and a leader in the field of secure email gateways. After getting acquired by Symantec, the product seems to have stopped evolving. Commodity malware routinely gets through. Priority 1 situations are not given the right level of attention by the support teams.
Continue reviewing the IT solutions landscape and be prepared to refresh some key product portfolios every two years.
It's very simple to implement and use.
Already mentioned above in detail - the product routinely misses commodity malware which is easily detected by other AV engines. Support is not up to the mark and does not appreciate business criticality.
Improved support and invested more in the product development.
Nothing, when we bought the product, it was top class.
Symantec is lagging behind other leading products in the market. Malware protection is not up to the mark. No thoughts around CEO phishing and fraud. Email tracking is tedious.
