It is easy to understand the system, especially if you were fully involved in the implementation process. So if something goes wrong or does not work you already know where to start looking for an issue and as a result fix it.

The implementation process, especially with the assistance of our Netsuite partner, was fairly smooth and efficient -- perhaps the easiest ERP migration I've ever been a part of in my 25 years of IT. Data migration was through CSV exports of our then-incumbent ERP and accounting packages, and then back into Netsuite. The IVR firm did the bulk of the heavy lifting where the Netsuite setup was concerned, and this after multiple discovery and strategy sessions. At all times, communications were solid. Go-live was relatively efficient, and the IVR had staff on site to ensure all went well. There were the usual bumps in the road, but we were able to book, ship and sell from Day 1, and after 2-3 weeks we were already planning the 1.1 version of our customizations. All in all, adoption from all parties concerned was quick and mildly pain-free. From the standpoint of a mid-sized business, Netsuite adoption was a major win for us. Things to be aware of that your vendor might not readily share in the sales phase: Shared-services tier of NS can responsivity be somewhat slow -- anywhere from 2-30 seconds per transaction, depending on the activity. If you are going to batch processes like closing out orders at day's end, this can be an appreciable period of time. There are additional tiers of NS available, so query about them if you are concerned. The Netsuite e-commerce website module is a bit behind the times from a technical standpoint. There are a limited number of payment processors, and fairly popular ones like Authorize.net are not available at this time.

The vendor was not prepared to support complex, large enterprise implementations. Resources were insufficiently knowledgeable or late in providing support and deliverables.

We are very excited by the software but had a very challenging experience with the professional services throughout implementation.

Very positive overall experience. Implementation team from NetSuite managed expectations, timelines, and outcomes. Project was on schedule and budget.

We were not able to utilize certain functions like the website that would have made our process much smoother. The website setup created pages that were very clunky. We could not establish a good flow for customers coming in. It doesn't fit what we need. Also the email marketing and campaigns require extensive extra steps and plenty of room for error making it less than ideal. Detailed email tracking requires a separate module which was costly and still falls short of what is available elsewhere in the marketplace. We like the importing of invoices, this has helped tremendously with our Receivables. Cut down on cost and helps us service our clients better because information is readily available. The ability to customize our customer form and upload documents makes managing over leads and clients very simple. Good process flow on the sales end with lots of places for notes.

Most of the issues we encountered were due to our third party partner (TrueCloud) rather than with Netsuite itself. Now that the initial kinks have been worked out and Netsuite has been deployed to a larger audience, it has already started to create new efficiencies.

Using internal NetSuite consulting for implementatin did not work well. Their internal consulting resources are very skilled for small business deployment, but flounder when faced with the complexities of the mid-market. Using talented third-party resources to pick up the ball where NetSuite drops it (project managment, data-migration, technical roadmap, scripting, implementation) made all the difference for our implementation.
