Progress (Telerik) SiteFinity Web Content Management System

    Overall Comment

The vendor was very easy to work with during the selection process, the purchase, and the implementation. They were very accommodating.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

When evaluating web content management systems, it is important to consider the complexity and how long it will take using the different solutions to deliver an easy to manage web site. Heavily involve marketing in the decision.

What do you like most about the product or service?

Ease of use and breadth of functionality.

What do you dislike most about the product?

    Included website search capability.

What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

A more advanced out-of-the-box website search capability would have been ideal. It comes with a simple Lucene solution which required quite a bit of work to customize to the point where it fit our requirements.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

There isn't a lot we would do differently. SiteFinity delivered the functionality and the ease of use we were looking for. We did decide to create our own custom framework to suplement what SiteFinity had built-in.

    Product(s): Progress Sitefinity

A modern CMS but with some product maturity issues.

    Overall Comment

Performance issues due to scale (large amounts of content and a large number of users). Vendor has been very helpful in helping fix issues, though, so our relationship with the vendor is very good. Some issues with technical documentation not being comprehensive enough. The product is developing rapidly which has been a positive experience.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

Understand what you want to achieve and use the capabilities of the tool in the right way. Carefully assess the need for custom development.

What do you like most about the product or service?

    Visual authoring experience

What do you dislike most about the product?

Performance when the amount of content grows (though this is to some extent our own fault in how we use the product), certain bizarre bugs.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

We did too much customization / custom development which has led to some problems. We also did some other mistakes, like not using the product in the best way (e.g. using "content" vs "pages").

Service & support - overall comment

Generally pretty good, except for specific technical issues and bugs it can take time

    Product(s): Progress Sitefinity

21st century web and technology framework for organization's rapid digital strategies

    Overall Comment

The Progress Sitefinity team has extended world-class customer satisfaction. Our experience with the customer support and product teams have been overall positive and supportive to the growing needs we require and most of all responsive in a timely manner

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

Define a clear roadmap of audiences, current state to future state and the expectations of a web application's role to meet the branding and digital strategies a company requires.

What do you like most about the product or service?

The embedded widgets are extraordinarily helpful to faster market penetration and response. The overall flexibility to scale creates dependability for future needs.

What do you dislike most about the product?

More of a challenge is sourcing internal skill development to manage the developments internally as we migrated from a 3rd party resource.

What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

Time is of the essence. Progress' product acquisitions have created a fully bundled capability that will richly enhance the way digital strategies are performed at the developer level and at a strategic level. No reason to look in the past when the future is promising.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

Invest in a developer with advanced CMS skill set to optimize the platform's ability more readily and strategically.

Service & support - overall comment

We've been pleased with the service and support experienced.

Integration & Deployment - Overall comment

The primary challenge was entry-level to moderate skillset of how the product framework worked.

    Product(s): Progress Sitefinity

Product is easy to use and helps us work efficiently.

    Overall Comment

Working with AmericanEagle.com was a pleasure. They moved the project forward and were very detail-oriented.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Set realistic timelines.

What do you like most about the product or service?

Easy to use and schedule publication.

What do you dislike most about the product?

    N/A

What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

I wish they would have provided more conservative timeline expectations. We were a little later than anticipated on some stages of the project.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

We didn't realize how intensive the project would be. That was primarily related to pulling data out of our previous content management system. We would have allotted more time for the project.

Service & support - overall comment

    Professional and helpful
