    Product(s): SDL Web

Great product, not all promises were made true.

    Overall Comment

Great product, but the account management can be better. SDL has a lot of software, which are not (yet) relevant for us, but makes it hard to get to the part we're interested in (WCMS).

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

Ask around for best practices and experiences

What do you like most about the product or service?

    Stable, pretty easy to maintain

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

Have more influence from SDL over the 3rd party if the cost rates are reasonable.

Service & support - overall comment

Support is good, but the systems to use and where to be found can improve.

    Product(s): SDL Web

A professional platform certainly for large, international companies.

    Overall Comment

At the time of purchase, SDL had a clear overall product portfolio and vision ahead.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

For large international organizations, the blueprinting technology behind SDL web is still a leading argument for choosing this platform.

What do you like most about the product or service?

The translation and replication process of the wide variety of global and local market sites.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

We wouldn't run a different process really, except probably focusing less on (too) complicated integrations arriving at an as simple as possible solution.

Service & support - overall comment

Overall adequate response on running issues and questions.

    Product(s): SDL Web

Competent product for multi-language and wide organizational use

    Overall Comment

A competent product that will work for most situations. Not that much out of the box as competition offers. You need to build and learn the product really well to perform on the platform.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

Check the supply for consultants in your region or deal on implementation as part of the purchase.

What do you like most about the product or service?

The flexibility from having full separation of structure, content and design top down. You can build from this and does not have to work dirty for cross channel use. Build structure and content once, use in diffrent applications.

What do you dislike most about the product?

The price is in the way of usage as most solutions are to small to take advantage and afford the price.

What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

Change the license model for usage. The current is driving bad configurations to keep some resources low and the number of users rarely using the system out.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

Start the reference implementation earlier with less needs for customer delivery. Focus purely on making a simple solution run in our environments. After that is done involve expectations on real delivery speed.

Service & support - overall comment

For day to day questions ok but for more advanced issues often need for product development expert or professional services consultants.

    Product(s): SDL Web

Great flexible tool that requires a lot of requirements definition in advance.

    Overall Comment

Great tool to define a lot by yourself, however, it requires that you define everything in advance.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

We started implementing Tridion Web in a very, very small implementation which was very good. You have to learn quite a bit until you do an optimized implementation. The more agile work process you can have between IT and business, the better. If you work together it will be better.

What do you like most about the product or service?

    The flexibility

What do you dislike most about the product?

Having to decide every requirement in advance.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    Learn more before implementation.

    Product(s): SDL Web

A great company to work with.

    Overall Comment

SDL have always been great at delivering support both for implementation and ongoing use of the product.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

Make sure you test the recommended hardware sizing for performance.

What do you like most about the product or service?

Ease of development. The great community of other users.

What do you dislike most about the product?

The user interface is starting to look tired.

What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

Over the years many more products were integrated into the suit and the focus for the bit we use, SDL Tridion was lost somewhat. That has improved recently as they have lived off the other modules into other units.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

Spend more time getting to know the product before we began development.

    Product capabilities - overall comment

We have yet to deploy web8, but it looks to have brought the product back up to speed with the competition.

Service & support - overall comment

We always get great support although often it is directy from the Amsterdam office.

Set up harder than expected but good stability once you’re up and running.

    Overall Comment

Good stability. Difficulty getting developers for the platform. More difficult to develop than expected.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

Make sure you have developers that knows that plattform

What do you dislike most about the product?

Hard to get developers, more difficult to set up then expected, not that easy to work with from a editors perspective. Uncertainty connected to the fact that the personalization part will be sold off

What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

Be more specific that plattform isnt plug and play from scratch

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

The plattform is not plug and play.

    Product(s): SDL Web

    Strong core product

    Overall Comment

Strong core CMS product, but add-ons that we needed like Experience Manager (in context editing) and SmartTarget (behavioral targeting) seem to be underdeveloped.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

If you just need the CMS, SDL Tridion is a very strong product. If you need any kind of in context editing built on top of your website application, know that it is the lot of work.

What do you like most about the product or service?

    The core CMS.

What do you dislike most about the product?

That the Experience Manager is not up to the quality and capability that the CMS is.

What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

Honest assessment of what the add-ons can and can't do

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

Start with a more limited implementation Start infrastructure work much earlier (though this has nothing to do with SDL, but is a consequence of the nature of our company infrastructure setup).

    Product(s): SDL Web

A lot of possibilities, but remember to do solid preparation and have clear goals.

    Overall Comment

Most processes went ok, however, implementation and process got very technical. Would focus more on the user and business next time.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

Would focus more on user and business next time.

What do you like most about the product or service?

    Possibilities available

What do you dislike most about the product?

Complex and not the most userfriendly. not most up to date with market and other competitors.

What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    Not being so technical

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

More strict with vendors and more strict goals.

Service & support - overall comment

    Average service.

Integration & Deployment - Overall comment

NOt happy with the final stage of implementation

    Product(s): SDL Web

Complex and flexible product, will ROI in long-term.

    Overall Comment

Good support. Too much sell oriented of new add-ons.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

Think through your requirements, stick to your plan. Try to cover the big picture of reuse of information. Have a strong committed team and stakeholders.

What do you like most about the product or service?

    Flexibility.

What do you dislike most about the product?

    License model

What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

Separation of new functionality to avoid dependencies.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

Complex, think everything through before you start, how you want your setup to be on long term. Important to do things right from the beginning, cost lot to change later.

Service & support - overall comment

    Fast and accurate

Integration & Deployment - Overall comment

Fits in to our processes and infrastructure

    Product(s): SDL Web

High on complexity and low on business satisfactory

    Overall Comment

The blueprint functionality is complex but believes according to expectations. The gap between top selling point provided by SDL and the actual delivery was too large. SDL sold a way of working that was not possible to implement in our organization. The complexity in solution functionality is too high. Back-end services are too many and hard to maintain. Time to marked in relation to new functionality is not as expected from the business.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Standardize

What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

Be more involved in implementation process with guidelines on best approach.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

Standardize more and thing differentiated approach in relation to internal need.
