We trust this finds many of you on or readying for your summer or winter holidays, depending upon where around the world you're reading this. The Gartner Analyst Relations Community has rapidly expanded over the last several years, truly becoming a global community. Since 2008, when membership stood at approximately 800 registered members, we have seen membership grow to over 1,300 today. It will come as no surprise to many of you that this expansion has occurred outside of North America, Western Europe and Australia. Driven by the expansion of high-tech vendor presence and the expansion of Gartner analyst presence globally, we have quite naturally seen significant increases in Gartner AR Community membership in India, China and areas such as Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia as well as Northeast Asia. We welcome those new to the community and are excited to see you engage with Gartner.
In our August 2011 newsletter we'll hear from three key members of the Gartner Worldwide Research Team: Peter Sondergaard, Gartner Global SVP of Research, Mike Harris, GVP of Gartner Technology and Service Provider Research and Jenni Lehman, GVP of Gartner Research Strategy and Operations.
Bringing Gartner Inside: Peter Sondergaard shares his perspectives on how Analyst Relations can maximize the value of their analyst relationships through strategic AR. Peter spends a few extra moments describing his perspectives on how AR can get maximum value from strategic advisory sessions (SAS) as well.
Research Strategy and Operations: Jenni Lehman tells us about the make-up of her organization and key initiatives of her team, with an emphasis on what's important for AR. She touches upon the vendor briefing process, provides a heads-up on two new Gartner Symposium/ITxpo vendor-coverage topics and mentions two Gartner research methodologies that AR should get to know.
Consumer Markets and Technologies: Mike Harris apprises us on this area of research coverage that has increased in demand given the explosion of consumer computing devices worldwide. AR professionals working with colleagues in both consumer and enterprise areas should see value in Mike's teams expanding coverage in this area.
