GVP, Gartner High-Tech Telecom Programs

Dear Colleague:

Welcome to our July Newsletter! As many of you prepare for a needed respite from the “busyness” of your daily Analyst Relations activities, we wanted to provide you with a bit of “what to expect” when attending an upcoming Gartner Symposium/ITxpo®, share recent findings from Josh Reynolds, CEO Blanc & Otus, and introduce you to the newest analyst arrivals at Gartner!

Maximizing Your Experience at Gartner Symposium/ITxpo: It’s time, believe it or not, to start preparing for your experience and those that you are bringing to Gartner Symposium/ITxpo. We’ve invited Jamie Popkin, Gartner Symposium/ITxpo chairperson and Managing VP within the IT Professionals Research team, to highlight  the tracks, expected roles of attendees, important sessions for high-tech professionals and advice on how to best prepare as an AR professional for this year’s events.

Gartner Symposium/ITxpo Theme and Keynote: A companion article to the above, David Willis, VP and Distinguished Analyst, shares his perspectives on the theme for Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2013 — “Leading in a Digital World” — and what it means for AR professionals and their companies. David exposes for us the key elements that make up the Nexus of Forces that is driving today’s digitization of the enterprise, and prepares you for what Gartner will be speaking about to our expected keynote audience of over 10,000 IT and IT-savvy business professionals, including more than 6,000 CIOs!

Agency Benefits for AR Programs: Many of you have enjoyed the insights shared by Josh Reynolds, CEO Blanc & Otus, during AR Forums held at Gartner Symposium/ITxpo. We’ve invited Josh to come back this time in interview fashion to share his perspectives on the key ways you can leverage an agency with your AR program — a question we are often asked. In addition, Josh will talk about why it’s important for AR to stay connected to the social media strategists within your organization as more and more IT buyers and analysts use social media.

We are also very excited to welcome new members to the Gartner Research organization. Since the first quarter of 2013, Gartner has expanded its research ranks with analysts across the following coverage areas: high-tech marketing and channels, enterprise software, security and risk management, supply chain, infrastructure protection, marketing leaders, data center security and risk, executive leadership and innovation, analytics, BI and performance management, and public sector. We look forward to you meeting the newest Gartner analysts who are relevant to your markets and areas of interest.

As always, let us know if you have any questions at We wish you much continued success with your Analyst Relations efforts for the remainder of 2013.
