Welcome to our Gartner AR Community July update. We have a few important updates to catch you up on before we lose many of you for summer holidays in various parts of the world. So let me be brief and dive right into the topics you’ll find in this update:

Analyst Relations Regional Briefings in Egham, U.K. (30 July) and Santa Clara , California (20 August)We are planning an AR Briefing day in each of the two cities mentioned above. Our agenda calls for morning sessions designed for our emerging high tech provider clients, as well as other AR-interested professionals new to working with Gartner. Our afternoon agenda includes content for both experienced and new AR Community members that includes a workshop on Magic Quadrant Process Optimization, for which your input is vital to the next generation of Research/AR process; and a workshop/presentation on Driving High ROI From Your AR Program. This is an excellent opportunity to network with AR peers and analysts, and to also help shape the AR Forum agendas held in Orlando and Barcelona. Gartner Magic Quadrant and Critical Capabilities Enhancements: Webinar Q&AMany of you attended our May webinar given by Julie Thomas and David Black from Gartner Research on the upcoming changes to the Gartner Magic Quadrant and companion Critical Capabilities methodologies. As promised, we’re providing the Q & A results from that webinar to add to your knowledge about these important changes.

Please also note that in our desire to further enhance your knowledge of these changes, David and Julie will be available in Egham and San Francisco Bay Area, respectively, to provide additional updates and answer any further questions you have regarding these enhancements and concerning other Gartner Research methodologies. Also on-site at both locations will be Claire Dessaux, who leads the Magic Quadrant Optimization Process initiative for Gartner Research. New Analyst Hires The first half of 2014 has been busy for additions to the Gartner Research organization. We continue to add to the ranks of the more than 980 Gartner analysts. This update sees new analysts joining Gartner within areas such as: CIO research, enterprise architecture, data center, analytics, IT operations, communication service providers, supply chain and public sector.
