To foster information sharing and best practices among AR professionals for more effective and efficient interactions with Gartner and measureable business value to their company's.
Welcome to our May 2014 Newsletter! It’s been several months since we’ve last connected via this Gartner AR Newsletter. While I’ve met with many of you via inquiries and in face-to-face meetings, we do have a bit of catching up to do for this more formal AR update. I’d like to also mention that I enjoyed meeting with many of you in late April at the KCG Connects mid-year event in Austin, TX, USA, where we updated each other on what’s happening at Gartner related to Analyst Relations and goings-on within the broader AR community. Here we’ll catch up on a few additional important topics:
Gartner Magic Quadrant and Critical Capabilities Enhancements — As many of you who attended our AR Forums in Orlando and Barcelona heard, Gartner Research is always hard at work providing innovative updates to our research methodologies. This newsletter is well-timed for Julie Thomas and David Black from Gartner Research to share with all of you some upcoming changes to the Gartner Magic Quadrant and companion Critical Capabilities methodologies. Jim Dunlavey from our High Tech and Telecom Programs team will also provide additional perspectives on what the My Gartner portal user experiences will be for all of you when the methodology changes go live later this year.
Gartner Vendor Rating and SWOT Methodologies — Andy Butler, shares a few of his perspectives on the Gartner Vendor Rating methodology. Having a wealth of experience as a Gartner analyst and lead analyst for such vendors as Cisco and now Red Hat, Andy provides some helpful insights about the Vendor Rating that serves as great guidance to vendors about how to go through the research process around the Gartner Vendor ratings. Similarly, analyst Doug Toombs shares his perspectives about the very popular Gartner SWOT methodology. Now that SWOTs are increasing in readership among end-user decision makers, it’s important for you as AR professionals to be aware of SWOTs and how they fit into your “coverage.”
The IIAR Maturity Model — Peggy O’Neill, AR Lead at Informatica, shared her perspectives with us several months ago regarding some great research she led under the auspices of the IIAR around an AR Maturity Model. We share our interview with Peggy about this helpful model and predict her Maturity Model will be helpful not only to new AR teams, but experienced ones as well.
New Analyst Hires — As Gartner continues to expand globally and add more analysts, we want to keep all of you up to speed on who has joined the analyst ranks since our last Newsletter. We look forward to your meeting these newest Gartner analysts that are relevant to your markets and areas of interest.
As always, please send us your questions at email@example.com, and as always, wish you much continued success with your Analyst Relations programs!
