SYSPRO develops Quantum Architecture to enable sustainable business success

"Organic growth will only take a business so far – what is needed is a systematic evaluation of how the business operates and what information needs are required. SYSPRO has developed SYSPRO Quantum Architecture to align a customer's business and business strategy within a technology framework to effectively support and achieve stated business objectives."

In today's economic climate, there's a tendency for some companies to become victims of their own success. In a recent interview Phil Duff, Group CEO and Founder of SYSPRO Worldwide, elaborated on this statement. Duff has been at the helm of a company whose ERP software solutions continue to gain industry prominence. He, therefore, has the expertise to comment intelligently on the future of ERP and recommend sophisticated ways for organizations to employ software to meet growth projections.

Question: How do companies become victims of their own success?

Duff: Imagine a logistics provider which is established as a leading player in its target markets and has an enviable reputation for delivering reliable services to its customers. Success has generated growth, growth and more growth, but suddenly everything changes. Deliveries begin to turn up late or disappear entirely, and the information the company holds on them is either inaccurate or contradictory. Formerly happy clients begin looking elsewhere.

The company invests in expensive third-party consultants, and the problem is identified: As the business has grown, every decision-maker in every department has implemented their own systems, processes, software applications and information silos. Instead of a streamlined operation with company-wide access to business-critical enterprise information, our logistics provider is actually a tangled mess of incompatible systems. The wonder is that the business has survived for so long.

This example demonstrates that organic growth will only take you so far – and then you will need a systematic evaluation of how the business operates and its information needs. In other words, Quantum Architecture.

Question: What does it take to be competitive today?

Duff: To be competitive in current markets, organizations must adopt a strategy of technology enablement. Companies today can no longer ignore advances in technology and how technology breaks the traditional boundaries of our work environments. The challenge lies in choosing a technology that enables both current business processes and future technology requirements.

Question: How did SYSPRO tackle this challenge?

Duff: In order to better understand business, the architects at SYSPRO have looked at it in four different dimensions: business; process; information; and technology. Thereafter, based on industry standards combined with leading technologies, the SYSPRO architects have created SYSPRO Quantum Architecture. It is this solution architecture that both enables and supports the various dimensions and needs of the customer's business.

In creating an architected solution for the business, SYSPRO selects the components which best match the customer's business needs. Because this is a personalized architected solution, it encompasses both current and future needs.

Question: How flexible is SYSPRO Quantum Architecture?

Duff: Whatever the customer's business challenges may be – re-engineering business processes, identifying the users of the architected solution, finding more ways for customers, partners and employees to access the business, ensuring business processes flow seamlessly, mastering the flow of documents in the business, integrating disparate systems, providing historical, current and predictive views of business operations, optimizing systems to employees' working requirements, outsourcing the IT infrastructure – SYSPRO can meet them all with its architected solutions.

Just remember – to realize business needs in technology, customers will need a comprehensive architecture encompassing the entire business and which can cater to both their current and future technology needs.

Question: SYSPRO was one of the first companies to introduce business software to the world about 33 years ago, and the company has grown in industry prominence ever since. What lies behind SYSPRO's success?

Duff: By focusing on people and building lasting relationships with customers and partners, SYSPRO consistently excels at guiding customers through all aspects of their implementation and ongoing usage. The aim is to deliver world-class software that gives customers the control, insight and agility they need for a competitive advantage in a global economy.

SYSPRO is continually developing remarkable software that simplifies operational effectiveness and keeps customers in control of their businesses. Our vision is focused on meeting customers' needs today and in the future. We concentrate on working with our customers to quantum architect their success.
