I think it depends on how the category is rated in your category management matrix.  To assist you can do a reverse Porter as the buyer and determine your influence in the category and your dependence on it.  That should be a huge guide to determine the correct evaluation criteria.

We are in the early stages of looking at the DataBricks solution. Databricks mentioned that for some components they have a Managed Service (branded Serverless Option).  1. SQL Warehouses 2. Jobs Compute (Workflows) 3. Notebooks / Interactive Workbooks 4. Model Serving 

I wondered if anyone had looked at the pros and cons of hosting these services on their own cloud platform vs going for the Databricks hosted / managed option and any insights?
