I picked increasing revenue as I believe that is a long term strategy.  cutting expenses is a short term strategy, and usually has other unintended consequences like lower employee moral.    That being said, the strategy I was almost always forced to follow was cutting expenses..... 95% of the time.

Business will always want to increase revenue. Thus mostly it will be increasing revenue. But when you are at critical juncture like merger, acquition etc the story will be different. Thus it will be mostly mix of it but always business driven.
