Has anyone used moderated interview panels with job candidates? My organization uses panel interviews as part of the selection process fairly often, and we're considering having a moderator collect the panel's questions in advance and ask them, for more cohesion and better candidate experience. The panel members could ask follow-up questions as needed.

we don't use moderators for interviews as it might intimidate the candidate. we use agile coaches as observers for all hands and review meetings

Will this be a better candidate experience though?  Feels a bit clinical and I wonder how many times the question would actually be repeated by the original asker for the purposes of further clarification anyway, so creating confusion - and certainly the original asker would need to respond to any requests for further clarification.

I'm not sure this will work well in practice - sorry :(

No - however the use of a scribe to take the notes of a panel interview can enable the panel to ask the questions, including any clarifying questions, and enable a better focus on what the applicant is saying, knowing all information is being captured by another.

Interesting to see what others experience might be?

I'm guessing if your scribe is well trained it might reduce bias as well?
