We use Veeam to backup all of our on premisses servers (virtual and physical) from multiple locations. We replicate the backups and have a copy in the cloud for DR. Veeam is used to backup our Azure and AWA servers. We use Veeam Scale-out repositories where part of the backup repo is on-prem and part in the cloud. Have been using Veeam for 5+ years and cloud not be happier.
It also works well with 3rd party de-dupe appliances, we use Dell EMC DataDomain. Also use Veaam for office365 backups.

Without a doubt - Technical Debt! It's a ball and chain that creates an ever increasing drag on any organization, stifles innovation, and prevents transformation.
