Have vendors delivered the value that they promise in their AI products?

We have not engaged deeply with vendors yet; we are still in proof-of-concept mode. We are about to frame an opportunity with expected results and outcomes, and we will not pay for this proof of concept until we are satisfied that the validation is there. AI is a game changer, and I believe many business decisions will be based on our capability to leverage it. Investors will look for that capability in IT or in the business line itself.
This situation reminds me of when we introduced cloud technology years ago. It was a significant shift—moving data into a virtual instance that was not physically accessible was a big leap. I expect we will go through similar trials and tribulations with AI to prove that we can trust it for certain use cases, but not for others. Until the technology matures and we as a company mature with it, we will have to rely on combined wisdom and feedback loops to make these products better—or they will fail until they meet our standards. Right now, I am curious but not fully bought in.
It is exciting to see some of the things emerging from this technology, and I can see AI being a game changer.
The success or failure of some AI use cases may not necessarily be about the technology itself. A significant factor is whether your organization is ready for it. We have realized that even when the technology works, the audience may not be ready to accept it. If there is not a willingness to adopt, even the best technology will not deliver the value you want.
