How do you stay informed about developments in the AI space, particularly concerning security?

For me, staying updated is largely about engaging with peers and consuming relevant content. I listen to podcasts, read books, and participate in discussions with colleagues. Collaboration is key. I'm also considering taking some classes to deepen my understanding, but for now, my focus is on leveraging collective knowledge through various interactions.
To keep up with AI developments, especially in security, it's crucial to integrate security from the beginning of any project. This means having security teams involved in the definition and requirements phase. We adopt a proactive approach, similar to "website cops," to prevent the deployment of potentially dangerous solutions. This strategy ensures that we are prepared to handle security concerns as they arise, rather than reacting to them unexpectedly.
I actively participate in various committees within our organization, such as the Architectural Committee and the Product Committee. These platforms are essential for cross-organizational information sharing, which helps us avoid being blindsided by unforeseen consequences. It's vital to be involved and to foster an environment where sharing is encouraged, ensuring that security enhancements are seen as beneficial rather than obstructive.
The challenge is that the amount of content being created around AI, it is very difficult to "keep up" with daily announcements regarding AI.
I agree with the other contributors around collaboration and involvement.
My approach is to use a few research organisations such as Gartner, Forrester and Harvard Business Review.
Am a big fan of podcasts and a number of data related podcasts give excellent insights into AI including DataFramed, Driven By Data and Lead with Data.
Finally, we need to remember that AI is on the hype cycle and we need to actually find the organisational pain points which can leverage AI to deliver better value for our customers.
