What are your leadership development offerings on the topic of 'Leading in a matrix'? How are you supporting them on this topic and which focus areas did you define?

It is a topic we have been talking about internally a lot. Expect some basic e-learnings on what matrix management is about, managers have to learn to TALK with each other. In case of appraisals, development, feedback or succession or behavior, it is key people talk, listen, share and act. Both matrix and line manager have to be one voice to the employee. This is all about agility.
Leading in a matrix can focus on essential skills such as organisational agility, relational skills, and influencing skills.
To support leaders in this area, training programs can be designed to help them understand the dynamics of matrix organizations, develop strong influencing and collaboration abilities, and navigate complex stakeholder relationships.
The focus areas defined for leadership development in a matrix include:
Organisational Agility - Understanding how the organisation works through formal and informal channels, and learning to become a 'system thinker' by taking a balcony view of the organisation
Relational Skills - Building trust and connections to get things done through the matrix, working with key players from across the organizations, and increasing lateral coordination by connecting frequently with peer leaders across units to coordinate business matters
Influencing Skills - Gaining buy-in for new ways of thinking, a desired change, and collaboration to achieve results, and leading without authority by tapping into relational skills to build trust and enable cooperation
These focus areas can form the basis of a comprehensive leadership development program tailored to the needs of leading in a matrix organisation.
Hope this helps?
