In my role with public sector, concerns around data privacy are very high, given the sensitive nature of the data involved and the potential consequences of data breaches or mishandling. Public Sector agencies must adhere to strict protocols, implement robust security measures, and maintain transparency about their data practices.
Additionally, public sector organizations have dedicated data privacy officers, committees, or teams responsible for developing and enforcing data privacy policies, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance across all departments and agencies.

Data privacy has become one of the biggest and most complex issues to resolve in recent months due to the increasing incidents of identity access attacks on large (usually trustworthy) organizations such as banks, insurance companies, telcos etc.  The increasing regularity and severity of these incidents, along with the uncertain nature of possible solutions, has certainly raised the risk profile of data privacy in my industry. The biggest issue is the inability to 'plug the gaps' given the level of innovation displayed by malicious actors. In Australia, national legislation has just been passed allowing for a federated digital identity to be used so business can confirm identities without holding private data themselves. In my view there is a lot of work to be done before industry will be convinced of this solution, and there isn't a great deal of information about the risk posed by this model, so I'll be following progress closely.

In my role, which primarily involves working on data and AI strategy and transformations, issues of data privacy are a constant and central focus. Given the nature of my work, ensuring that data privacy is embedded in every aspect of the data lifecycle is not just a regulatory requirement but a foundational element of our strategic approach. This encompasses everything from the initial collection of data to its final deletion or archiving, ensuring that privacy considerations guide our decisions and actions at every step.

We deal with privacy throughout the day on various contexts. We work with Health and Social Development thus we work with PI and PHI throughout the day.
The Health System Partners (departments which typically work with health data or systems) are likely more aware of PI PHI and other privacy concerns vs some other departments. Training is mandatory for all staff.

Every day!  And the complexity is growing.  My involvement is more likely related to my job role than the industry.  I am responsible for Data Governance and Privacy as well as other data related items such as M/L models.  We are very careful about using data appropriately and respectfully.
