We are looking for a CMDB tool which uses automation as much as possible to eliminate the administrative overhead. Any suggestions?

What is it that you would look to automate?  We use Device42 which has automated/scheduled discovery but beyond that we have had to build our own automations using the tooling's APIs etc.

I'd really like to hear other opinions on this topic.
We're currently using efecte as our main ITSM tool including its CMDB. What I've heard from my IT-colleagues is the lack of decent automation functionality. Therefore they'll currently implementing camunda for automation of processes with a broader footprint, i.e. using camunda not only for CMDB, but for many other processes to be automated.
Hope this helps.

We use this but I feel being a good tool would mean guardrails to prevent CMDB fragmenting.  The relationships in its CMDB are far too vague and open to varying interpretation by maintainers.  I know you can't completely blame the tool for its governance, but in the case of Service Now CMDB, I've always felt the data model doesn't seem constrained and specific enough.  The CMDB doesn't appear to integrate readily with other validation sources like Entra, many API platforms, cloud providers.  But as I said, it's what we use.
