We are looking to create a (minor) track of Data Science in a Business Administration undergrad program. Our challenge is to bring a set of around 10 courses that are really ESSENTIAL, fundamental for the students' education, and that survive for a relatively long period. Do we have similar experiences here that can be shared?
My view would be to structure them around the types of problems that data scientists are solving for, either industry by industry or use case by use case. Data science is very industry or ‘use case’ specific. So I think it's very difficult to have a generic data science module unless it's a kind of 101. Data science teaching modules need to focus very much on the specific use cases and problems you need to solve with them. The technologies and techniques may change, but I think the core use cases of what the problem is trying to solve will still exist.
I am looking for insights and best practices from those who have successfully tackled data management challenges within their organizations. Our team is developing a comprehensive strategy for managing both structured and unstructured data assets across their lifecycle. I have two key questions I'd like to open for discussion: 1) How are you approaching the overall strategy for data archival and retention management for both structured and unstructured data? 2) How are you systematically implementing and enforcing defined retention schedules within your technical systems for both structured and unstructured data?
What is your biggest fear with migrating to the cloud?
