A very large and well known software vendor had pitched a complete platform to us, a platform that hadn't been developed yet, it was nothing but a powerpoint deck. The sheer audacity of selling vaporware was astounding. (we didn't sign with them).

Has anyone benchmarked, or found benchmark references, related to the cost of IT per employee (HW and SW). HW is a bit easier, however I am looking for benchmarks for cost per employee for baseline software tooling, and by role/function (Sales, R&D, Design, Marketing, etc.) I would appreciate any insight you can offer.

I represent a business in the FMCG industry, and we are seeking support for end-to-end financial reporting to help with innovation planning. We are looking for a system or suite of solutions that can address the following requirements: SKU-level P&L entry for new product development (NPD) and cannibalization, Excel-based uploads aligned with market templates, or seamless integration with finance systems, Gate stage tracking for each project and market, Timely updates ahead of local PMRs, Automatic reflection of actual performance, and an intuitive interface to encourage user compliance. Has anyone been successful in implementing a FinOps Cost Optimization policy to turn down idle cloud instances during off hours (nights/weekends)?  DId you start with non-prod environments?  How are you handling logging/monitoring alerts during that time?
