Welcome

This edition of our newsletter is all about Testing. We are pleased to have the opportunity to highlight a recent research note authored by Gartner Research Vice President, Barry Runyon, which explains the importance of healthcare information system interoperability – specifically the testing needed to ensure it. It's a part of the interoperability puzzle that AEGIS feels is often overlooked or de-emphasized – we're glad to see Gartner shining a light on such a key and integral topic. AEGIS was also recently mentioned in Gartner's "Market Trends: Position Now for Health IT Analytics in the U.S. Federal Market" on December 19, 2014 by Katell Thielemann as a Vendor to Watch.

We're proud to be included in this report!

In the past year, AEGIS has witnessed a number of developments on the interoperability front. One of those is the advancement of HL7's Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standard. Another is the evolution of the testing landscape toward a shared service model. This newsletter includes articles on both topics. Meanwhile, we've also observed, in several personal encounters, that healthcare system interoperability has a long way to go where it matters most: at the point of care. As long as providers continue to depend on faxed medical records in order to help them administer critical care and service, the interoperability community has more work to do. The collection of articles in this issue express some specific ways AEGIS is working to do our part and outlines ways other organizations can help.

So enjoy our newsletter and by all means let us know what you think! You can find us online at http://www.AEGIS.net, and participate in our dialog via our blog at http://blog.AEGIS.net. Will you be attending HIMSS 15 in Chicago in April? If so, look for AEGIS in the Exhibit Hall!
