Driving One of the Hottest Mobile Trends of 2015

Amit Modi

Happy New Year! Looking back on 2014, some of the hottest and most talked about technologies included the release of Apple's new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, mobile payment apps, and wearable devices. With the proliferation of users wanting to use their own personal mobile devices at work, BYOD continued to be a hot topic.

Clearly, mobile devices and the technologies that work with them will continue to be a major focus as we enter into 2015. In fact, according to industry analysts at Gartner, with the continued growth of BYOD, Multiple Identities Management (MIM) is expected to be one of the hottest "What's Next" markets and an important term that you will be hearing a lot in the coming year.

If you are new to the term, MIM allows users to completely separate their work related communications/activities (ex. emails and phone calls, messages) from their personal information on their mobile devices. With a simple swipe, users can switch from their work email, texts and phone calls to their personal information, essentially creating multiple identities on a single device. What's more, MIM helps to ease the concerns of BYOD by making corporate information more secure and by providing separate invoicing for work and personal usage, simplifying the process of submitting mobile phone expenses and expense/reimbursement management in general.

  • Operators can increase ARPU by deploying and monetizing new OTT services. You get to sell an additional phone line without having to subsidize another mobile phone.
  • Enterprises can better manage reimbursements and ensure that they pay only for enterprise related consumption. This means you save money on employee reimbursements while giving better personalization to the employees.
  • Employees get to keep their personal information personal and only pay for what they consume. So you can simplify how you manage/separate/secure your multiple identities (work, home, etc.) in a mobile environment.

As a leader in personal communications applications, Movius is spearheading the MIM market by providing services that enable next generation communications on any device and across any network. We equip enterprises and service providers with carrier-grade, hardware agnostic, geographically scalable solutions that bridge the Internet and the telecommunications world.

Movius' myIdentities, a patented Identities-as-a-Service solution manages personal and professional identities securely and seamlessly on one mobile device. myIdentities unleashes best-in-class client server architecture and rich native mobile device capabilities. The difference is the elegance of our solution, which offers multiple phone lines on one device (single SIM and SIM independent), portable identities and split billing on any mobile device of user's choice. Leveraging Movius' CAFÉ platform, myIdentities is already helping over 150 global carriers capitalize on Multiple Identities Management and new revenue generation. In fact, we have recently partnered with Cellrox and Orange to offer a new mobile virtualization solution for enterprises (see here for more). By creating multiple virtual phones on a single device, this new mobile virtualization solution enables enterprises to secure data and reduce risk, while boosting productivity, protecting employees' privacy and supporting personal choice. Each 'virtual phone' has a unique phone number and personalized communication.

Included in our latest newsletter, you will find timely and complimentary research by Gartner entitled "Don't Let Mobile Phone Number Ownership Place Your BYOD Program on Hold," which explains how you can effectively deploy a secure and cost-efficient BYOD program for your mobile workforce. While we encourage you to read the research in its entirety, some of the recommendations included in the research include:

  • Assigning a second, enterprise-owned number to all personally owned devices that are involved in customer-facing interactions, or where faced with regulatory requirements for logging and archiving communications.
  • Avoiding manual work-arounds that require extra steps to block or mask caller ID for outbound calls.
  • Investigate vendor solutions via PBX vendors and telephony carriers that implement dual- number, single-SIM solutions.
  • Leveraging training and written policies to guide employees to use only the approved applications and numbers for enterprise voice and SMS communications on their mobile devices.

In addition to this valuable research from Gartner, this issue of The Movius Solution Newsletter includes our most recent press releases, including the announcement our important, new partnership with Samsung as a Silver Partner in their SEAP program.

Finally, we are including strong recommendations for U.S. carriers for 2015. Carriers, take note!

We hope you find this latest issue of The Movius Solution Newsletter to be interesting and helpful.
