It's got to be distributed into the right domains. Having an AI centre of excellence might sound like a good idea, but it will hamstring the rest of your business if they end up with a gate keeping role.

The best model is to ensure that HR, Marketing, Sales, IT, Customer Experience all have people with both expertise in the domain and knowledge of AI. That will enable them to solve the problems for their department and not get caught up in corporate intertia.

The businesses who set up a COE with highly specialised roles should only do this where AI is a core revenue generator of the business - it's either a product they sell, or they consult on it.
