I’m somewhat optimistic, but only really because we need people. Most people are still hiring unicorns, but when others get their foot in the door they will have a lot of chances to go far.

Is DEI important, yes, however if Cyber continues to search for and are only willing to hire the unicorns of skills and experience, DEI does not stand a chance.  If we start hiring the hungry for work, less skilled, diverse candidates, we will ultimately negate the lack of DEI in the cyber workforce.  Moving to the model of hiring and training up candidates in cyber will also reduce the unfilled cyber positions and ensure a safer cyber landscape tomorrow.
