Starting over in a toolset or solution capability takes time and energy for retraining, configuration, securing, and change management at the process and people level.  Sometimes it may seem cheaper, but these elements may lead to an actual increase in cost vs savings.

Run a limited Proof of Value = get a member of the team to work without the tool for a week, and then report back to management with the results of their productivity vs the rest of the team.

This will present a much stronger case on why the tool is necessary than just trying to explain it without facts.
