Has anyone got any experience of the mandatory/legislative requirements when configuring MS Dynamic 365 F&SCM in the European region? e.g. Spain has a specific requirement on how a chart of accounts be setup and there are different tax rules on the continent.

Yes Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management has to be localized for each country in Europe, since accounting, tax, and statutory requirements differ.

Spain: mandatory format for Chart of Accounts and immediate supply of information (SII) reporting to the tax authority.

Italy: e-invoicing is compulsory, with government-approved XML formats.

France: anti-fraud rules require certified accounting software and SAF-T reporting.

Nordics / broader EU: SAF-T file generation and VAT compliance are common requirements.

Microsoft delivers localization packs out of the box for most EU countries, but many enterprises still need ISV solutions or partner customization to meet sector-specific rules.

If you’re working with Dynamics 365 F&SCM in Europe, the safest route is:

Enable the relevant country/region features in Electronic Reporting (ER).

Check the Localization guides in Microsoft Learn (each country has a doc).

Consider a Dynamics 365 Partner or ISV (like property/finance solutions) if you need extra compliance beyond Microsoft’s base localization.

We're deploying Dynamics 365 Finance and are concerned with the backup options available.  Microsoft default is 28 days of online backups, our requirements are longer than this.  We can export the database but this has risks associated with it.

Is anyone currently using or installing IFS for a discrete manufacturing business? We are a discrete manufacturing company and are looking at establishing business system standards for our various divisions. Did you find that IFS provides for your long term needs (10+ years)? Were you able to find SI’s that can implement the system?
