Can anyone recommend a predictive resource planning tool? We're looking for a platform that can schedule field resources using forward demand planning information, informed by resource costs, availability, skill set.  We currently have fairly simplistic manual scheduling tools but want to move to the next level in planning automation. If it makes a difference, we are not a route- or dispatch-based service provider.  We provide services in managed geographic regions in a demand-driven manner.

No real need to tie to a Microsoft stack... We use NetSuite and NetSuite CRM, so connectivity there is a big plus.  Predictive scheduling is an area we'd really like to explore, along with robust APIs for reporting as well as an accessible front-end for real-time schedule changes.

NetSuite is another great platform. I am almost certain that they have scheduling module(s), but I guess they don't match your specific use case? Also, it would be interesting to learn what you plan to base your predictive scheduling on. You may need to tap into AI/ML, in which case Oracle seems like the most logical option, but of course GCP, AWS, and Azure also have very strong capabilities in that area. Use of a specialized platform (like Veritone, Alteryx, Dataiku) can make integration easier.

Hey Chuck Musciano since you're newer to the platform, simply letting you know you can select Andrew's profile and "request to connect" - once he accepts that'll allow you access to his email and you can take offline if entirely necessary... otherwise we appreciate your exchange for others to learn from!!<br><br>Hopefully more input from more users to come...

Options are many, but I would suggest looking into complete PSA Platforms to maximize the benefits. Maybe something like Mavenlink or Autotask. There are also point solution, for example - https://www.float.com/. Or you can look into a platform such as Dynamics 365 (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/field-service/universal-resource-scheduling-for-field-service) that can be extended to do just about anything and can be integrated with Microsoft (Office) 365 services to enable seamless collaboration.

Thanks Andrew, curious from <mention id="5ee22219d36e1d4c746e593a" displayname="Chuck Musciano"></mention> the appeal / need to be tightly aligned to a Microsoft stack? (assuming that's even the case) or preference for a third-party / emerging tool... we'll try and get some more folks to chime in!

Interesting indeed. Microsoft is one of only a handful of vendors (maybe the only one) that offers cloud collaboration, enterprise resource management, and general computing (i.e. Azure) platforms. This could be attractive to some organizations, especially those already invested in the Microsoft stack. Others prefer a more diversified approach, or even best of breed. In some cases it is a matter of preferences, in others what works best for solving a specific problem, rarely it's a matter of strategic vision.
