Not sure if there is a bunch of meaning behind compensation or benefit certifications, but those that I'm aware of are CCP (certified compensation professional), CBP (certified benefits professional), and SHRM (society of human resource managers). Experience in strategy, consulting, and analytics are a much more useful background as Total Rewards ends up pulling multiple levers (comp, benefits, retirement, etc.) to influence outcomes.

This is a tough question. Comp and Benefits doesn’t really exist on its own anymore like it used to. I think starting with courses around benefits and compensation is a must. Total Rewards will really depend on the company and what’s offered. I would advise on taking and certification courses on incentive programs, health and wellness programs, and become familiar with what all is included in Total Rewards to get your foot in the door.
