No dedicated team for software implementation, it's the same team who is responsible for infrastructure maintenance.

There are no dedicated software implementation teams, they are formed on a need basis across the application dev and infrastructure management.

It depends on the product you are selling. There are many products which are fully cloud-based and decentralized, relevant DEVOPS team can handle the implementation. But if you are selling an ERP for a larger organization, you must have a well-trained team to handle it. It is comprised of a product lead, technical members as well as good negotiators.  The structure depends on the module, customer, and location.

It is the same team that works the help desk and performs higher level troubleshooting.
Director of Technology in Media, 10,001+ employees
Software Implementation team is either a part of the business group they are supporting or the central infra group, depending on the type of application we would be implementing. Structuring it based on business or portfolio keeps it more organized. And at times these are formed on need basis.
Senior Vice President, Product Design and Data Analytics in Finance (non-banking), 1,001 - 5,000 employees
Implementation teams, when centralised, grow into becoming functional SMEs and several career paths emanate from there - business analysis, product management, support and troubleshooting, pre-sales and client implementations as well. So definitely rewarding to have a dedicated implementation team, something we are reaping benefits from.

Without a doubt - Technical Debt! It's a ball and chain that creates an ever increasing drag on any organization, stifles innovation, and prevents transformation.
