Are there some Peers here in the community that have a dedicated "Emerging Digital Technology" team in their organization? In our organization, this is a team that aims to make it less overwhelming and risky to adopt emerging digital technologies. In the external ecosystems there are an overwhelming amount of emerging digital solutions and trends being developed that could benefit us. For many teams there are too many options and opportunities, and lack of time, money and risk appetite to try them all to find the ones worth pursuing. This means opportunities are missed. We have identified three ways to make an impact. 1) The technical way where others are adopting and realizing value from emerging digital technologies discovered, hands-on evaluated and de-risked by us. 2) The advisory way where others are making strategic choices informed by outlook, intelligence and knowledge coming from us. 3) The facilitating way where others can use our sandbox and skills to test hypotheses, learn about emerging digital technologies, be inspired and connect ideas with solutions and people. Anyone here that have a similar team that would like to exchange experiences?

Professional Networks: You can leverage professional networks and associations related to your industry and area of interest. Websites like LinkedIn, industry-specific forums, and communities often have groups dedicated to specific topics or areas. Joining and participating in these groups can help you connect with professionals who share similar roles and interests.

Conferences and Seminars: Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops related to emerging digital technologies. These events often bring together experts and professionals in the field. You can network, attend sessions, and participate in discussions to meet peers who share your challenges and interests.

Online Forums and Communities: Look for online forums, communities, and discussion boards related to emerging digital technologies, digital transformation, and innovation. Platforms like Reddit, Stack Exchange, and specialized industry forums can be excellent places to find like-minded professionals.

Industry-specific Associations: Many industries have associations and organizations that focus on technology and innovation. Joining these associations can provide you with access to a network of professionals who are working in similar roles or facing similar challenges.

Collaboration Tools: Consider using collaboration and project management tools like Slack or Microsoft Teams. Many organizations and groups create dedicated channels or workspaces for professionals with shared interests to exchange ideas and experiences.

Online Webinars and Workshops: Keep an eye out for webinars and online workshops related to your field. These events often include opportunities for networking and discussions with experts and peers.

Vendor or Solution-specific Communities: If your team focuses on specific emerging digital technologies or solutions, check if the vendors or developers of those technologies have online communities or user groups. These can be great places to connect with others who are using the same tools.

When reaching out to peers or professionals in similar roles, be clear about your objectives and what you're looking to exchange experiences on. This will help facilitate meaningful discussions and connections within the community. Additionally, be open to sharing your own experiences and insights, as reciprocity can lead to more valuable interactions.

Dont have a dedicated team except for initial research and high level update on emerging technologies however each department engage multiple vendors for emerging technlogies. Based on business needs, we pick the technology, perform initial assessment and at times perform POC/Pilot to see if new technology will work within our existing environment and also to check if product has any other underlying issues. I have led few emerging technologies POC and most of these had issues initially and then we left those in our test envrionment for a year or so and then rolled out - I see these common issues - Integration issue with existing Infra, lack of features, unstable and etc.

Technical Evaluation: These teams play a crucial role in assessing emerging digital technologies. They conduct hands-on evaluations and de-risking, ensuring that the technologies are technically sound and align with the organization's goals and infrastructure.Business Alignment: Another important aspect is aligning the identified technologies with the organization's strategic objectives. This involves understanding how the technology can create value, improve processes, or drive innovation within the company.Risk Management: Managing the risks associated with adopting new technologies is vital. The team should evaluate potential risks, both technical and business-related, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
