Actually in my case there are two factors:
*) Amortization Period : In Austria Computer systems are calculated for four years, if it can not be argued differently and if the investment exceeds EUR 1,000,-.
*) Warranty coverage which is normally less than the amortization period time.
Business notebooks are replaced after four years. Monitors are of top quality at the time of purchase and replaced when broken or really outdated.
