What are the key responsibilities of data stewards in your organization?
Sort by:
In our organisation, Data Stewards are responsible for the day-to-day management of data assets to ensure compliance with data governance, data management, and policy requirements. Their key responsibilities include:
• Ensuring Data Integrity - Maintaining the quality and accuracy of data to support effective decision-making processes.
• Enforcing Data Privacy and Security - Upholding data privacy, ethics, and security standards to protect sensitive information.
• Collaborating with Data Owners - Working closely with business areas and data owners to increase awareness of data legislation, protocols, and lifecycle management.
• Maximising Data Value: Helping the organisation derive maximum value from its data while minimising risks associated with misuse.
• Defining and Implementing Data Standards: Establishing data standards, documenting metadata, facilitating data ownership, and managing data access in line with governance frameworks.
At UAB we have four primary groups defined with regards to data.
* Data Stewards: the owners of the Sensitive or Restricted data who are ultimately responsible
for authorizing access to the data and making sure that it is secured
* Trusted Designee: an individual who is granted the ability by a data steward to authorize access
to the data; data stewards, however, are always ultimately responsible and accountable for the
use and security of their data and cannot assign that responsibility to a trusted designee
* Data Custodians: individuals or groups who accept, process, store, and/or transmit Sensitive or
Restricted data during the course of conducting approved UAB business processes
* Data Users: individuals authorized to access UAB data tied to approved UAB business processes
Hope this helps.
